ive tried everything i can think of to get rid of it, im about to enlarge my storage partition on my HD and then transfer all the files i dont need to get wiped, then after that, bye bye windows, hello clean install, all this time wasted trying to figure out the problem, ill solve it after a quick reformat...
i have about 30gb or so of files i dont need to lose, im hoping i can get a good sized secondary HD sooner or later, just hasn't been high on my priorities

For future ref, get a cheap IDE 1-200G drive w/ a usb to ide case or just the adapter (yes they make em) and then u can just plug it in and backup what you need to. I did that (had leftover enclosure, look @ techbargains for drives )

ive played around with OO and diskeeper, as long as my HD is defragged, im cool, but anyways, its not all that bad about the reformatting, once i get all my drivers back everything will be fine, just got a lot of stuff to save. i know about getting a spare HD, been thinking about it for a while, i have an 80gb i was trying to revive from the dead, not working though. and i have an old 30gb that just wont initialize, bios reads it fine, windows disk manager sees it, but i never can actually use it....well, off to upload what few cands i have in d2ol, and then get the thing partitioning, then off to bed

It's time to take off the gloves!

It's less than 3 days to zero hour and we are down by 140,000+
Time to get creative! Look at the team list, lots of inactive members there and lots of familar names among them. If you know any of them, maybe a call with some gentle arm twisting! Maybe more than gentle if you know them well!
With the server messed up, maybe burn a cd with the info needed and take it with you.
Spot an PC doing nothing and get it working like God intended it to be!
Is your dear sainted mother's PC just doing email and looking at Aunt Sophie's pictures from her 65th birthday? Make that sucker produce some heat!
Get 100 of these "slow" PC's that we walk by everyday up and working and they will make a huge difference!
Call some buddies from the inactive members list and you may find that once they know the importance they will RUN to help out!
Don't be shy! A good salesman is never afraid to ask and you don't get a YES without asking!
Disclaimer: None of the above is intended to manipulate anyone's actions, only to suggest.

well, atm im in the process of formatting my a64 rig, i got all my stuff backed up finally, including node.prp.

meanwhile im sitting on my old athlon (tbird) 1.4 rig, and its running d2ol right now, the other computer should be up & running within the next couple of hours, just gotta download my sound drivers and install LAN drivers and that should be it. i would just leave both these computers on, but i dont feel safe with them like that...the wall looks like it might be a fire hazard, which is why im only doing this while sitting down @ them. i might end up buying another samsung SATA2 HD for backup purposes, then someday later get me a 250-500gb for actual storage, and put the samsung's in raid 0. 360gb for main "drive" and 500 for storage....that would be nice. i have 6 slots for HD's, so i have plenty of room for upgrades, although my case isn't getting any lighter these days.

Yea, we realized. Can you give us any insight on your buddy's @ ICA? Its just a little odd that for five days there output has always ended in zero. I hope you realize that also.

I have no idea, I'm a member of the subteam DPC_Team_Switch which tends to move around the various projects, to wherever help is needed. I never participated in D2OL until now therefore I don't know what all our subteams are up to.

Here you can see the flush history of ICA_Cows. It's not like I'm revealing any secrets, it's just there at our official stats-pages. It looks like they're used to buffering results for a while.

Thanks for the link. On that link, MOST of the dumps (excepct the one all the way at the bottom) that is >50k ends in a zero. Like ddtung said, theres a 1/10 chance of it ending in zero. Now whats the chance of everything >50k ending in 0?

That's not that difficult, they tried to teach me some math in school, years ago:
    8 dumps >50 of which 6 end with a 0. Let's see: 0,1 ^ 6 = 0,0001%

They also taught me that it is very dangerous to try to prove things with statistics.

Some people actually win the Lottery with smaller chances than that.

My guess, since ICA_Cows are still using the same 6 node-numbers you discussed in another thread: I think they've buffered everything offline by renaming the resultQueue.dat-file everytime it reached 2.000. Now they're uploading the lot. You must have noticed that the client uploads 10 jobs at a time, which would explain the ending-0.

Here's a 'progress report' from ICA's dumps today.

    Starting: 19560
    20600
    22430
    24370
    30820
    34780
    38310
    42470
    44610
    51210
    53400
    65710

Even though the results server appears to upload 10 at a time, it has to upload the last batch which is not a round 10, and the stats server only does the tally every 15 minutes. To get the above sequence, all the resultQueue.dat files will have to contain exact multiples of ten, or you must win the lottery every time.

My guess is that the resultQueue.dat files of ICA_Cows contain 2.000 jobs each, which happens to be a multiple of 10.

That's it for the "defending" of my fellow-cows, I'm off back to Cowland.
I congratulate you with the #1 which is bound to happen sooner or later.

If you have any more questions of suspicions, you're welcome to post in our forum, use the thread with the title "[D2OL] hitparade...".

well, if each of their resultsqueue's they had were 2000, they would have totals like 20000, 30000, 32000, etc.

and also, they are not using 6 nodes, they are only using one single node
    http://app.d2ol.com/stats/nodeProfil...7749&x=19&y=11

so that would mean this team has over 300 rigs all with a resultsqueue.dat file, or over 300 resultsqueue.dat files on their computers. it just seems strange to me
