    15,000watts
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

FCG, what is your opinion on Zippy power supplies for dual opteron servers?

They have a model with 45 amps on a single 12v rail at 700watts.

I'm not sure what makes you think my calculations are linear...

    As originally posted:
    110*(3600/2800)^2*(1.65/1.4)= 214W

Obviously NOT linear. I'm willing to concede that this was a simple oversight but if not, I advise not using words you don't understand the meaning of...

Can't go wrong with Zippy although I don't have as much experience with that brand as say, s7e9h3n...you should PM him for more information on the best model for a dual Opty system. As you know (or should), I am building a very high-performance dual DC Opteron system right now and I selected the PCP&C 1kW for that system also. Better to have TOO much power and a lower total system capacity consumption than too much...

my system in my sig pulls about 2.3-2.9Amps under load. lcd included.

i have a kill a watt unit also. after booting the system it jumped 2.3-2.9amps. It Actually peaks 3amps+ on boot, then in windows it drops under 2.5amps.

    Its very interesting tho.
    i have kill-a-watt connected to:

    my Computer in sig
    Dsl modem
    Dsl Wireless router

and all of that above at load doesnt peak over 6.5amps.

    FCG is rigth!

My OCZ Powerstream 600 cant handle my SLI rig, proved it just some minutes ago. Everytime i started 3d benching, computer would just shut off.

    The rig includes: Prommy, Opt148@ 3200Mhz, DFI SLi-dr, 2 hitachi hdd, audigy ZS, 1 DVD-RW, 2 GTXs 512Mbs and 4 case fans

I had to use another PSU to power the GFXs and from then it works perfectly

Uh oh do I need a 800 W PSU now? 2x7800GT in SLI with some (overclocking using nv silencers probably), X2 3800+ probably or Opteron, 2x512 OCZ 3700 EB memory at 2,9 V, Vapochill XE and 2 Raptors, 1 7200 and a 120 mm fan?

Even a seasonic S12 600W should be able to handle that one I hope and a 510 ASL for sure? (same as 510 SLI)

you could run your system on one of those but not sure for how long. Honestly I would be looking at a 1k or something of the like.

    I have:
    raptor
    120gb ide drive
    3 delta fans

My OCZ 520 smelt like BBQ 24/7 running rosetta and caused some instability once 3d came into play. I put the cards on an OCZ 420 and I'm ok now.
