What timings will the 2x1024 ballistix do below the pc4000 range? I know they are set for 3-4-4-8 at ddr500. I was wondering if they would do any tighter in the 235-245 range?

you should be able to do 2.5-2-2 if you're lucky, 2.5-3-2 or 2.5-3-3 if your sticks are more average
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them
I am lucky, mine can do 2.5-2-2-6 at 2.80V at 240 FSB
i7-860 Farm with nVidia GPU's
my sticks worked @ 237 like this (spi 32mb passed):
cas: 2.5
trc: 7
trfc: 10
ras to cas: 3 - lower is unstable with my sticks :-(
ras to ras: 2
tras: best was 0 or 7
trp: 2
twr: 2
twtr: 1
trtw: 2
!!!! important !!! refresh rate 100 MHz 1.95us (3684) -this is my only stable setting on Ballistix when OCing
async latency: 6ns (shame, didnt try the 5ns)
read preamble 5ns (shame I didnt test the 4.5 or 4ns)
idle cycle limit 0clks - my fastest setting
didnt play with the drive strength
remember I have only 2x512 , not 2x1024 , but I can see the Ballistix dont make a huge difference with the added density
GOOD LUCK!

Sometimes a good slap in the face is all you need
Bios my arss.....
I can fix this problem with a hardware mod.... Hipro5

these are my settings 24/7 super pi 32M stable. voltage is 2.8V and memory is at 285 mhz.
nice speed, but it would be better, if you'd try 280 MHz and tighten those timings, try Trfc to 14, and latencies to 7ns and 5ns, try refreshing 100MHz 1.95us, should give you better performanceOriginally Posted by |3ourne

hi my ballistix dont work at 250mhz whit 2.8volt... i think i use the bad timning...
what timing are you use at 250mhz ????
sorry for my bad english !!

Max Async and Read Preamble of 7ns and 5ns on a 2gb kit at 285 mhz with an opteron ??????Originally Posted by Aerosupra

It wont boot up. Or even if it does , it definitely WONT be stable.
Trfc of 14 is not MUCH different from 16. Btw Memory at 285 mhz with Trfc at 16 has better performance than memory at 280 mhz with Trfc of 14.
Trust me on this , I have played with nothing but memory modules this past one year or so.
Here's 250...

with the asus, you probably have to change command rate to 2T. the spd you have listed is correct though
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them
the command rate was 1T... yesterday i have passed 1 hour of prime at 240 3-4-4-8 1T http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/9580/240344103qm.jpg
now i test at 245 3-4-4-8 1T...

Dont think I'm nuts, some people have Ballistix 2x1GB 290-300 with 8ns and 5ns and Trfc of 14, so 7 & 5 wouldnt be a problem @ 280, that Trfc 16 is your experience and mabye your right, didnt try myselfOriginally Posted by |3ourne

my ballistix 2x1024 can't work a 250mhz 3-4-4-8... this is my situation : http://img460.imageshack.us/img460/2964/twork8cc.jpg
there is some bad timing ???? plese help me... at 240 3-3-3-8 after 1 hour and 8 minutes prime was found 1 error..
on the manual of my asus there is "DIMM modules with 128Mb memory chips or double-sided x16 memory chips are not supported in this motherboard"
the ballistix 1024Mb are 16 x 128Mb chips....
but the crucial's web site report : http://www.crucial.com/eu/ballistix/...=25&submit.y=9
if this is the cause of don't work @ 250mhz then i'm going to buy a dfi lanparty sli-d...
sorry for my english !!!

Set the read to write delay to 3, this will help ... Ballistix cannot handle Trtw at 2 on higher OC

also, the Ballistix 2x1024 (1GB modules) have 16x64 which stands for a double-sided 1GB module, it would be a nonsense not supporting 1GB modules on a Nforce4 mobo.
that note in your asus manual says the motherboard doesnt support 2GB modules, it only supports 256-1024 on one module

and generally, trtw should be 3 or 4 when using cas3.. my ballistix like 3 more than 4 thoughOriginally Posted by Aerosupra

looks fine,Originally Posted by napass
sure its the highest stable at those timings?
try setting ras to ras to 2 and that read preamble to 5 ns for slight performance increase,
for 24/7 its fine if its stable, so you must this test yourself (spi 32, prime, games....)
NO MATTER WHAT TIMING OR FREQUENCY YOU MUST KEEP THEM ACTIVELY COOLED !!!!!!!!

this is the first test whit these timings...
before i try whit same timing at 240mhz and after 1 hours of prime the ram run still...
tomorrow i try at 240mhz whit your suggestion... i'm not going to stop the prime 95 before 5-6 hours...
on my ram i have the stock amd's fan.... now the ram is very cooled !!!
when prime is in action the ballistix are tepid...
tomorrow, if i have free time i post the result of test...
thx for all suggestion !!!
