Cool Few days with 2x1GB G.Skill PC4000HZ - full OCing report!

If there is anyone that liked my couple last OCing reports, then there is another one for ya!

    2x1GB G.Skill PC4000HZ (Samsung UCCC 0537)

This time, I have 2GB kit based on Samsung UCCC - F14000USU2-2GBHZ from G.Skill. Stock is DDR500 8-4-4-3.0-1T, but I will not show you any results at DDR500 I went straight for DDR560. SPi 32M finished without a hiccup, so 285MHz was the next step... Soon after I was benching @ DDR580...

    SPi32M @ 290x11=3190MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

    Sandra @ 290x11=3190MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

Absolute MAX for SuperPi 32M to pass was 291MHz

    SPi32M @ 291x11=3201MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

I also did some 3D tests as I had a chance to play with 7800GTX 512MB for few days. Thanks

    3DMark2001 @ 290x11=3190MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

    3DMark03 @ 290x11=3190MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

    3Dmark05 @ 290x11=3190MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

    Aquamark3 @ 290x11=3190MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

How about some SP2004 (GUI for P95) action?

    6 hours SP2004 LargeFFT 1770MB used @ 290x11=3190MHz 8-4-4-3.0-1T

Anything above 291Mhz was not stable enough for any serious benchmark to complete, so it was time for a little experiment --> 8-3-4-3.0-1T I only had to drop few MHz, to find stability in 32M @ 8-3-4-3.0-1T.

    SPi32M @ 286x11=3146MHz 8-3-4-3.0-1T

First attempt to pass 3D at 285MHz did not seem to bring success, so I just dropped to 280MHz and all was fine and dandy from here. I'm pretty sure If I was more patient I would fight harder for few more MHz in 3D, but I don't have the video card anymore. Later, I noticed I forgot to run 3DMark05

    3DMark2001 i 03 @ 280x11=3080MHz 8-3-4-3.0-1T

    Some SP2004 to finish off,

    6 hours SP2004 LargeFFT 1770MB used @ 280x11=3080MHz 8-3-4-3.0-1T

But let's not stop here, shall we 8-3-3-3.0-1T anyone? The journey to stability from 280MHz was very long but I noticed some light at 253MHz 8-3-3-3.0-1T

    SPi32M @ 253x11=2783MHz 8-3-3-3.0-1T

    Sandra @ 250x11=2750MHz 8-3-3-3.0-1T

For 3D, I dropped to 250Mhz. As a matter of fact, those 3D runs I did when my max 32M was 250Mhz. When I did 253Mhz in SPi 32M, card was already gone... So, maybe that 253Mhz could be 3D stable as well...

    3DMark2001 i 05 @ 250x11=2750MHz 8-3-3-3.0-1T

    3DMark03 @ 250x11=2750MHz 8-3-3-3.0-1T

    Some SP2004 action

    3 hours SP2004 LargeFFT 1770MB used @ 280x11=3080MHz 8-3-4-3.0-1T

As you probably noticed, vdimm I was using was 2.6-2.7v. This is exactly ALL those sticks needed for proper operation in all those instances. Anything higher would not net any gains, though. CAS2.5 as well as 5-2-3-3.0-1T @ DDR500 is NO GO!

What I liked about those SAmsung UCCC based modules is it's flexibility- from 8-4-4-3.0 to 8-3-3-3.0. Also, modules run very cool and probably fan is finally not required. I had one blowing, though. But that's because It's always there, no matter what memory I use.
As far as average results... From what I have seen so far (results from AndreYang, Major and few others) modules I had seemed to be performing exceptionally well. But set your expectations a little bit lower to avoid any dissapointment in OCing. But so far we've seen results as 275-285MHz. Considering the practical usage of 2GB kits at this moment (gaming and everyday use, not benching!) it's a pretty good choice, especially that it's price is very attractive.

I hope you liked my new report

    Mike

    --------------
This kit was sent to me by G.Skill. I was assured that it was not hand-picked before shipping it to me. It comes from the same batch that is available in Retail. I'm not associated in any way, shape or form with G.Skill. I was simply given this kit for evaluation and desided to present my tests regardless of performance. The results I obtained may or may not be on par with all other 2x1GB G.Skill PC4000HZ kits available for purchase.

So if infineon's yields come back, would you recommend the 3200ZX or the 4000HZ?

    great job on your reports!

If I ever be able (or be given chance) to put my hands on any modules based on new batch of Infineon CE-6, I will let you know

It should be on some of the screens, Everest window But it's was on DFI NF4 Ultra-D R.A02 (almost 1yr old now and still kicking) and 623-3 official BIOS.

Great post. Thanks for sharing all the time and work you put into testing. As of this writing only 15 sets left at the Egg. I grabbed a pair for another gaming rig. I'm anxious to put this this set head to head against my Patriot/Infineon set.

Hm, the OCZ PC4000 Plats that I just acquired seem to be doing a lot better. 280 6-3-2-3 1T full stability.

so 3d stable is at 253 but benchable at 291. So in reality, it is really only stable at 253.

If this 280MHz 5-2-3-3.0-1T is *absolutelly" 100% stable "on desktop" as well as 3D (32M, SP2004, 3DMarks, games, etc), then If I were you I would keep this RAM, worship it and never give up

I hope you will get that 292MHz, George But I think 290MHz is already very high for those modules. What interesting is that 290Mhz is fully stable but 2Mhz more and all hope for decent stability disappears

It seems you only just scratched the surface of that test Results are presented across different TRP and TRCD and the kit I tested was fully stable @ 250, 280 and 290Mhz.

It is so far. You know, I think it may not be at it's limit just yet About 10 hours dual prime with FFT size 4096KB and it's working without a glitch. Played some F.E.A.R. the other day and no problems either.

I would NOT count on that, you know 8-4-4-3.0-1T might be doable, though...

Well, at 2.5v I could do SPi32M @ 280MHz (8-4-4-3.0 as well as 8-3-4-3.0) but it was not possible to complete more than an hour of SP2004. 250MHz 8-3-3-3.0-1T @ 2.5v did not pass, though.

My kit arrived (BTW, newegg and UPS really seem to want to win people over. Ordered Friday with 3-day shipping and it was here when I came home).

I didn't have time to give it a real spin, but it is prime95ing at 270 MHz 3-4-4-8 for a hour now. That is with my CABYE single-core in the DFI SLI-DR, 2.7 Vdimm.

I initially had bad results until I switched the sticks, apparently I have one stick weaker than the other. Didn't try higher with this order and didn't touch timings, have to wait for my Windows disk to become unoccupied.

    @Martin Cracauer,

Let us know what MAX 32M/SP2004/3D you have achieved with those modules once you're done, please.

    @destr0yer,

Kind of high, I have to agree

Well, I have a 4 MB S3 PCI graphics card in there

Right now I have them under Windows for the first time, but I only use Windows for clockgen/a64tweaker/prime95.
