    seems intel is good for 3dmark and will soon take the place of AMD in ORB

    Quick Qs:

    -No fan for the CPU's heat-sink? and at 4.3ghz (366x12@1465fsb) AND 1.42v? Bad ass!.

    -PATA HDD? why not SATA?

    -What PSU is that?

    BTW, What do you think of the 975X boards by ASUS, one with 8phase and one without it?

    P.S. Man!!, this board makes the nCrap 4 SLI-IE look like a big pile of King Kong's fecal matter.

    cpu cooler= sunbeam tuniq tower120, with 2000rpm 1225fan
    room temp=10c
    hdd=PATA 3years old , just for testing
    psu= zippy 600w, 12v=26A+20A , good for oc!

    asus 975x mobo has two version, WS version has 8pwm, but more device, don't know how this gonna effect on OC.
    Normal version has the same layout with 955x mobo, so ... maybe OC just a little bit better than 955x

    nf4 ie always not so good !

    sorry, correct me if im wrong, but thats not really that good...

    2.4ghz a64 with a 7800gtx 512mb (550/1700) scores 9395
    2.4ghz a64 with a 7800gtx 512mb (600/1800) scores 9903
    so 50mhz core and 100mhz mem result in 500 points in 2k5
    if mem and core both give an equal boost and scales a linear way then this means 100mhz higher me alone means 250 points in 2k5.

    so if the card would only run 550/1350 thats 350mhz less mem speed, so ~850 points less in 2k5

    that means
    2.4ghz a64 with a 7800gtx 512mb (550/1350) would score ~9050

    so to compare the two...
    2.4ghz a64 with a 7800gtx 512mb (550/1350) would score ~9050
    4.4ghz 955xe 7800gtx 256 (@550/1350) scores 9747

    the 955xe is greatly oced while the a64 is running stock and the 955xe only scores 700 points higher. AND from what kinc told me higher mem clocks result in a lower boost than gpu clocks!
    so the a64 would probably score more than ~9050

    if you ask me this score isnt very good...
    people hit 10K with a 7800gtx 256 card on an a64 system without too much of an effort afaik...
    and the highest with a gtx256 and amd was 13K i think, no?

    "calculated" a score means nothing, just run the game and see the benchmark.
    Compare the the same GPU/VRam clk and the scores, then make a conclusion.

    another new mark for your refference , I just finished

    compare with a 2.8Ghz AMD 285 with the same GPU/VRam clk here:

    and a 3Ghz AMD FX57 with close GPU/VRam clk here:

    these two pictures came from coolaler in TW

    Saaya, you should compare with 7800GTX 256MB, not 512MB..

    Anyway, not so bad score

    For comparison I get 10047 with my 256 7800 with stock cooler (525-1350) and the old FX-55 at around 3.350mhz - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1029604

    I will love to get my hands on 1 of those new Intel 955xe's, the dead of my golden fx-57 make me have a strong will to jump out the AMD wagon

    I wonder how much can we get on those 955xe's in single phase or in the cascade ???

    so, let's do a summary:

    my 955xe:
    4396mhz Ram:3-3-3-8-2 366mhz | 540/1330 : 9662
    (366*12) | 544/1350 : 9725
    | 550/1350 : 9747
    4685mhz Ram:3-2-2-4-2 360mhz | 542/1350 : 9847
    (360*13)

    =================================================

    AMD FX57 3Ghz Ram: 2.5-4-3-7 1T 300mhz | 540/1330 : 9652
    (300*10)

    =================================================

    so the satistics shows that: 4.4G 955xe > 3G FX57 in 3Dmark05

    beside, 955xe has not oc... too much, 4.4G stable on AirCooling
    bios=1.375v , take a look

    ok, my bad then
    looks nice
    but still not good enough to beat amd in the orb i think... this is the fastest intel cpu, the fastest amd cpu will be the fx60 to compete with that, and they do 3ghz on air and even higher, and they are dual core so they perform 0-15% faster than a fx57 at 3ghz.

    but intel is definately catching up nicely there!
    higher clocks AND higher ipc!

    for the first time in a long time im actually impressed with intel, it has not been since the days of AXP vs. p4c that i thought intel was on top, now it looks like there is a possiblity of them regaining that spot. Unfortunatly for them, amd is also getting ready to release some new CPU's, and those might be faster than 3.0Ghz @ stock speeds, and that would put a damper on intels current win with thhis proc

    Yonah will eat both Presler and the FX-60 for lunch.

    When we see those Yonahs with higher FSB, they will be performance monsters! Intel intends to introduce the EE version of Yonah using a 333 FSB, so it should perform very well.

    Imagine a dual core Yonah at 3ghz With good cooling, Yonah should have no problem getting to those clocks with the best air cooling.

    Judging by Anand's preview, the main bottleneck on Yonah is the low FSB, so just increase that and you'll have yourself a marvelous system, which excels in gaming and media.

    The only thing Yonah lacks is 64-bit. AMD still has the edge in that respect.

    Alright, so 4.7ghz & 7800gtx @ 542/1350 gets 9847. Is it safe to assume that @ 5ghz and like 550/1400 that close to 10.5k would be possible?

    Very nice Victor. It would be really nice if Intel allows SLI to run on the new 975 boards if that happens before F-60 is released I really think Intel can take #1 on the ORB. It will be interesting to see how the FX-60 stacks up against the 955 on a 975 mobo. BTW what is that extension piece on your GTX that the power cable is fed through?

    I'll try Intel 975x today, the board with 2pcie 16x and 1pcie 8x

    the extension piece on my GTX is Dell's Specialist
    'cos 78GTX is tooooooooo long and tooooooooo heavy that must need to be fixed in the case
