x1600xt Out now! any one OC it?

    Newegg has powercolor 1600xt 256mb for 179$

Has anyone got one yet and has OC'd it?

Do you think it'll be voltmodded via software like the x1800's?

throw water and volts I woudln't be surprised if these things could do 750/800
of course remembering theres no power connector.

The card does not need water to get to 800 on the ram...surprisingly it does that on air with ease...the core on the reference cooler (the powercolor one) maxes out at 650 or so.

Powercolor, HIS, Sapphire all have better X1600XTs coming out with coolers that cool the mem and the core a lot better than the one on Newegg atm. Check em out: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...2&postcount=87 .

And yes the X1600 supports software volt adjustments.

mmm...do I see a place where a power connector can be soldered on...mmm...upper right hand corner, looks like maybe a place where this no power connector issue could be fixed.

I'm afraid I wouldn't call it killer. Not that I want to introduce the "greener" side of things into the issue, ATI itself has GTOs on the market that perform anywhere from 25 to 50% better in some games. However, optimizations continue. With the fear1.exe tweak, this thing races past the 6800GS - but the only game it does race past it

THe other advantage is in 3dmark05 (5300 stock)...and same will apply for 3dmark06 which will be even more shader heavy.

My friend got a Gecube in Australia. Its got 2.5ns RAM not 1.2ns

1.2ns is rated for 800MHz, so thats not a problem. Also vcore comes default at .85v. So plenty of room for that.

Apparently all BBAs have 1.2ns. Don't know about the others.

I would wait for X1700.. 24 pixel pipelines, 8 ROPs, 8 Texture Units, supposedly 256bit bus.

The only problem with X1600 is that it's optimized much too heavily for future games. Therefore it's not worth the money (at the moment, later on it most definately will)
    oh man

I'm guessing he got the X1600Pro. The X1600XT requires 1.4ns RAM for it to hit it's stock memory speed. 2.5ns would only go to...800mhz, (400mhz)(?) correct me if i'm wrong

    Yes. THe X1600PRO has 800Mhz GDDR2 stock.

Though I'd never buy Gecube knowing what i know now. They even have X800GTO's out with GDDR2 !!! And many will just notice the lower price tag and realize afterwards thats its gddr2. Read those boxes and research before buying ppl.

x1700 is going to be half the price of the X1800XT maximum...though it may only be around $75 less expensive than an X1800XL. (Assuming $250 Pricetag).

Ye. Its in that context it'll make sense if it ever will

Single card X1600 is never gonna compete with Connect3D @ 16pipes, XT speeds if money is an issue.

its a shame that these cards only have 128bit memory. .85v is VERY impressive on the core though, it should do some really nice speeds with a little extra juice

Who's going to leave the stock cooler on anyway? People should just get the card that is the best buy. All the cards I've seen use the referrence PCB.

In BF2 with 5.12 drivers and AA on it beats a gs and comes close in many other games. 5.12 drivers do wonders

    I don't think x1600XTs come with ddr3? Isn't it all ddr2 for it?
