Slight warning if you are in a position similar to mine:

I wanted one of these for testing in a K8WE or H8DCE board before plugging in 275s.

However, at least the K8WE does not run anything lower than x46, so that won't work.

I would build a dualy system if I got the chance to buy 2 of those.

Actually, are there any SLI compatable dualy boards that I can drop unregged memory into? Maybe I'll turn it into a ultra high end gaming rig.

Just an FYI, Tankguys.com has them for $75.

    I have 2x240's in a MSI K8T800 FAR2. Works great

Oh, really? I'm not really interested in them anymore. I thought they retailed for something in the 200$ range.

Socket 940 systems always require registered memory.

For gaming the performance drop won't matter, though.

I have several GB of extra BH5. I would need to buy regged memory. I heard stories about a unregged opty mobo coming out because apparantly the newer memory controllers don't require regged memory.

    I'd say that's rubbish.

The socket 939 Opterons miss the additional Hyperlinks to talk to other CPUs and that's that for 2-socket systems.

And certainly they will not do anything before the new sockets are coming out anyway.
