BFG 7800GTX512 with singlecore and dualcore test

    air and no mod
    BFG 7800GTX 512 SLi
    AMD OPTY146 3G
    AMD OPTY170 2.9G

    146 @ 3G

    170 @ 2.9G

i try 170 with 3G and the score on game 1 went up like 5 FPS when it started but blue screen follows...
dual core will serious take over single core...

I assume the gains are in GT1 and GT2 ? Bigger improvement than I thought, although I assume this mainly helps in 05 rather than 03. I would imagine Far Cry gets a boost as well.

As the next 3dmark is supposed to be dual core based then it looks like the dual core FX60 (?) will be all the rage ......

    Regards
    Andy

seems latest forceware drivers optimised for dual core seem to optimise for 3dmark05 as you don't see that much boost from actual games if you read some of the reviews

i should have my Opteron 170 CCBWE 0544XPMW cpu tomorrow so can also test against FX-57 and Opteron 146

    Guys....

First, this isn't 3dmark05 dependant, it'll be the same on ANY 3dmark when using NVidia cards. 3dmark01-03-05 are all singlethreaded, try it yourself...Anyone with an ATi card can test that out themselves, they'll find I'm correct. The only part of 3dmark05 that is multi-threaded is the CPU test, the 3d test is 100% singlethreaded.

NVidia has been using multi-threaded drivers lately, and with every new revision the gain for going dual core increases. This happens with ANY game, and ANY benchmark... One of the reasons I'm eyeing a new dual core opteron myself, a free boost like that doesn't sound bad to me!

    hi

would u be able to run the test again with the 146 @ 2.9ghz?
that way we would get a direct comparison as the FSB + clock speed is the same

and we could work out how many % dualcore has adv

guess2098, can you upload these to the ORB or does the Dual Core Opty come up as an unknown CPU?

So far all dual core opterons don't publish so if you can publish your 170 2k5 score can you do so for a few min to the orb?

Not currently, it's NVidia only... If ATi follow suit it'll be about 6-12 months before it makes it's way to us. Multithreaded coding takes major time, and NVidia has been working on theirs for over a year.

you guys talking about platform drivers or graphics drivers here

i've got the Expert board coupled with a dual core Opteron and X800NP card.....i'll be doing some testing with 3DMARK05......initial test at stock looks good...i'd say i'll be giving my 2.9GHz Opteron score a good hard run for its money with 2.6GHz dual core Opteron
