    3DMARK06 beta

    http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=503391

wonder if it will be multithreaded............looks like shader model 3.0 was added

GUYS you should use yahoo babefish to translate the jiberish from simple chinese to english

TRANSLATION....well sort of..........looks like my X800 SM2.0 will get pounded here
Futuremark ︽utside ︺as laid down a generation of 3DMark ﹦﹀runcation , ︸isclosure next generation ﹦﹦are massive ﹁ith HDR Readering and ShaderModel 3.0 ﹦under, therefore ︺as ︿hows the card completely to complete generation of 3DMark with ﹀he possible ︼aw all ﹦, ﹦many }usiness have attained ﹁raps Beta edition 》aming 3DMark 06 Beta, moreover only ﹦the minute but ︺as the picture complete edition for each :ame Test to leave 〕or a 〔ntire 《inute , Has :ame Test is 3DMark 05 Game 3 ︿hips big ⊥偌 improvements edition, but joins massive HDR Readering and the ShaderModel 3.0 effects, ﹦﹀he law estimates 3DMark 06 officially to promote ﹦.

3DMark 06 Beta Ming?? nVidia is disadvantageous, because 》Vidia has joined HDR Readering and the ShaderModel 3.0 supports in the Geforce 6 ︹enerations, but ATi ︽nly 〕amily only then joins in Radeon the X1000, therefore former generation X300, X500, X600, X700 and the X800 family ﹦extremely misses to the 3DMark 06 tables , but Beta ﹦only supports ︺as SM3.0 and HDR ︿hows the card also only then ﹦, FurtureMark also indicated ﹦does not use ATi 3D+, Int16/10 HDR and function and so on FP AA.

    wow to both...

It was stated before that it will be multi-threading but that most of the work (including vertex stuff the cpu usually does) will be done by the gpu so that the cpu wont effect the results much.

"Futuremark has started talking about their next 3DMark publicly over at Beyond3D interview. The key feature and effect present in 3DMark2006 are Shader Model 3.0 support and HDR implementation that requires full SM3.0 support and FP16 textures & blending. Others cool implementations and changes include CSM (Cascaded Shadow Maps), soft shadows, heavier pixel processing load, increased arithmetic to texture ops ratio for the SM3.0 tests, at least 256MB of graphics memory to ensure no disk swapping, a new CPU test (most probably multi-core support).

According to our friends from HKEPC, some manufacturers have received a copy of 3DMark2006 Beta for internal testing but there is no scoring function yet in the beta copy for confidential reasons. There is particular game test in 3DMark06 which is similar to the Game Test 3 "Canyon Flight" of 3DMark05 but now it utilizes lots of HDR and SM3.0. Certainly the sea monster looks a lot better indeed from what we have seen. Things are not looking too rosy for ATi previous generation cards such as X300/500/600/700/800 that don't support SM 3.0 but it is fine for NVIDIA GeForce 6 series."

Or you get a program and monitor CPU usage during the tests.

just got my X800GTO.......time to get 7800GTX ^^
looks great but I have problems getting 05 running >25FPS in some scenes...
3D Mark is always the Nr.1 reason to buy a new GPU - it looks sooo sweet.
I will never forget seeing the nature scene in 01 SE the first time with my Ti4400@4600...was worth the 320€

hmmm i really love the first one, but the second one looks not that good.
the snow and the objects have a big contrast to each other... it looks like the buildings and objects are on a foil that is laid over the snow landscape...

Agreed....with the sun that low, there should be a lot more radiosity off of the snow to the point where it's blinding and decontrasts the other objects and the blue sky in overbrightness.

Anyway, good to know there will be something out there that my GTX can't deliver playable framerates with

and that sounds like only the cpu-test will support dual cores - but not the game tests
    which would suck imo

The Antarctic camp scene (second pic) looks like each particle of snow has its own polygons...not to mention the realism in the second one is just awe-inspiring...

A little surprise at the name though...

    3dmark2001 + 2 = 3dmark2003 + 2 = 3dmark2005 + 1? = 3dmark06 ???

There trying to increase profit margins maybe speeding it up by releasing newer versions of the software.
