    Opteron 144UP/146UP

    Hi,

I'm a little confused. H E R E at OcUK, they say "AMD Opteron UP 144 San Diego 1.8GHz 1MB Cache (Socket 939)" and "AMD Opteron UP 146 San Diego 2.0GHz 1MB Cache (Socket 939)".

Could someone explain to me please? I'm pretty usless when it comes to AMD parts.

AMD Opteron UP 146 San Diego 2.0GHz 1MB Cache (Socket 939):

    vs.

    AMD Opteron 148 2.2GHz 1MB Cache - Retail

Is the UP version only the CPU and it doesn't come with the HSF?

    Thanks.

yes, the ones that do not say if they are s939 are most likely s940

    also, UP stands for uni-processor

CG is s940 only. you want E4 for s939 (but even then, i'm pretty sure i've seen some E4's for s940, so be careful)

Ok, thanks very much. I'll report back when I've found a place, so hopefully you guys can check up on it, so that I don't go and buy a 940.

    Thanks.

It looks like the 146 CABYE's are what you might find from OcUK. They doing pretty well. Hopefully I can grab a couple and take them back to South Africa for my mates.

    Thanks for the hand guys.

    Hi guys,

    I've got a question. What's the difference between the OSA146DAA5BN & OSA146BNBOX?

    I know the OSA146BNBOX comes with a 3yr warranty over the OSA146DAA5BN's 1yr warranty.

Could you perhaps shed some more light?

    Thanks!

    OSA146DAA5BN = OEM (chip only)

OSA146BNBOX = retail boxed (chip, hs/f, sticker, manual)

    There's only 2xx-series Opterons with E4-core and socket 940. All E4-core 1xx-serie procs are S939.
