Not looking great for the CAB2E at initial glance... booted at 2.8ghz at 1.45v and got a reboot. Upped it to 1.5v and Super PI 1MB fails instantly.
I'll increase the voltage and see where I get stable at...
EDIT - Think my PSU can't cut it.![]()

Don't recall if you mentioned it earlier, but how high are yours booting at default voltage?Originally Posted by eva2000

nearly all 146 CABYE 0540FPBW are hitting 3ghz at either low 1.42v vcore or 1.536-1.584v vcore
low vcore 3ghz ones don't seem to scale well with vcore past 3ghz, while the higher vcore 3ghz ones seem to scale a bit better
but all depends on cooling too!
both my 146 CABYE 0540FPBW are the 3ghz at 1.536v and 1.552v kind of cpus

depending on psu AUTO vcore = 1.36v or 1.376v so really hard to say but 1st 146 auto vcore only 2800mhz 2nd 146 auto vcore 2900mhz

i would agree. my 146 that hits 2.9ghz with 1.425v needs ~1.55v to almost stabilize at 3ghzOriginally Posted by eva2000
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them
A shop here in Hong kong has 2 Opterons.
1. 144 CABNE
2. 146 CABYE
I don't know their manufactured date, but is it worth getting over my 4400+ X2?
Or should I just want for the dual core opteron?

Otherwise go for 144, in the worst case you get a few more things to play with.
In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.
My problems seem to be rooted to the fact that *something* in my system isn't a big fan of the 9x multiplier: 8x275 2.5-3-3 1T is fine, 9x275 BSODs, but 8x320 (166 divider) is fine...gah. Being limited to 8x is going to limit my overclock majorly. Suggestions?
Kameleon what clocks are you getting at what voltages?
Try a different bios.
Good point, all you guys struggling should be using a tall memory divider, at least 150 or even 133 to completely rule out the memory for now. Also, don't forget to lower the HTT multi to 3 too. I don't like anything auto, I don't trust it.Originally Posted by Jimbo Mahoney

Not thoroughly (had a brief go with 133 divider inamongst everything else), I'll have to give it a go. If that has no effect I'll move from the 1.3b6 1T BIOS to the 1.8 1T BIOS (I was on trats 1.37 before and that gave me the same problems). LDT has been on 3x throughout, I'm a bit wary of dropping it to 2.5x or 2x, is either one more advisable than the other?Originally Posted by Jimbo Mahoney
EDIT:I've not gone above 2700, on stock volts - the board has been holding me back way before that, and much over 300HTT and it also dies at the moment. Can't really find out how the CPU does until I solve the other problems, but let's just say that it's not my bottleneck. I wish I'd got one of the 146s now, despite the supposedly better memory controller on the CAB2E, it's not doing me much good. I'd rather have 10x. Might be having to go PCI-E and get a new board...Originally Posted by Richdog
