For all you know I could agree with you on the subject of Suicide Shots being pointless. What I don't agree with is how you go about making your point. I don't have a problem with your opinion, everyone is entitled to one and trust me you've made yours very clear. But why do you feel the need to put your 2 cents in every time you see something you don't like? I can understand it and tolerate it to a point, but no twhen that point becomes you calling other people's accomplishments pathetic. Grow up just a little bit man and you might see who the real pathetic one is here.

MeatFrog you had an SS that you claimed was a WR and all for the longest time IRRC.

It's funny how you guys can SS 400mhz higher than your benchies yet I can't set even 10mhz over my max 1m clock without my system hardlocking.

Well that's why they have their own thread.
    (Which should be called "Denmark")

Calling this one "Opteron" is like calling a thread "Athlon 64 overclocking thread", too many different CPU's and sockets.

Nay, there wouldn't be 2132 posts if guys thought this was a 940 opty thread. Why shoot, you wouldn't even be here if you thought it was an 940 thread, would you?

Nobody "thinks" this thread has much info about S940, especially not since S939 Opterons become popular. Still I think the name is to unprecise, it's all about one core, "Venus". For some reason people found out that an OC thread should be named with the core name for different A64's, like Winchester, San Diego, so it would be more easy to find it. It should be the same for this one. I mean, we're talking about the oldest K8, with B, C, D, E revisions, one or two cores, 100, 200, 800, EE, HE, 1400 - 2800 MHz. It's not like this will be the one and only OC friendly Opteron.

I'll ask you instead, what's wrong with "Venus"? Why is it suddently not obvious to use the core name? Err, not much to argue about, but I'm still curious.

Anyway, it's a great thread! I hope I soon can join in with my CABNE (if it ever shows up).

Most likely it is not called the Venus thread for the same reason that when the 754's came out it wasn't called the clawhammer thread. It was called the 64 thread because it was the only one. Sure there is a 940 opty but the Venus is the only 939 core right now.

    Besides, what's in a name?

No, there are two, and they have just as much in common as the SD and X2 have when it comes to OC.

That's what I'm talking about, even a guy like dinos22 missed the Denmark thread. He's probably not the only one.

It's not like the first S754 A64, because there are already two cores, even though Denmark showed up a little later, but we knew it was there from the beginning.

nope, the next step up was corrupt, and i don't have the 144 anymore. you've got better temps than me, and more voltage to boot. not fair (but congrats anyway )
max 1m for me was ~3050mhz

    Woah, below 24min with 3GHz, i think you're hackin Great times m8

Anybody lapped cpu's core? I finished lapping mine with wet 800 grit, wet 1000 grit and 2000 grit finishing (mirror finish), somehow my temps dropped even more (1-2C load) I was able to prime an avg. 2 sec at 3GHZ and now I prime 8-16 sec at same speed It's all about good contact

well in all honesty i think it should be called the official opterOWN overclocking thread since OBVIOUSLY any of these new single core opterons on socket 939 are now referred to as "opterOWN".

you know, like how we call every bandage a "band-aid" (though its not)... huh? huh? allllrighhhhht
