    Optys run hot?

Just wondering if anyone else thinks these run a bit hot, maybe it's just my chip. My 146 is running hotter then my X2, both with XP90 and I've reseated 3 times now.

It all depends on the Voltage and the Current it draws...
Optys usually draw less Voltage and a little less Current and are a little bit cooler which makes them better for overclocking...
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

Let's get past "dope post 1045"..........

The opty 939’s are no more than an A64 that may, or may not be on better silicone, the jury’s still out. I wouldn’t expect for a moment that a 146 could out perform your X2-3800+ and/or run at higher temps. If you are getting better temps on your dual core than something is clearly different/screwed with your cooling solution, or your application of such………

Of course when AMD realizes, and they probably already have, that we are jumping on the new 939 Opty’s based on theory, they’ll start labeling them according to market demand rather then what we believe works!

CABYE 0536GPMW is a cool one. Takes 1.6v to get to 3ghz 32M stable but runs cooler volt for volt than any Opty I've tested . Overall the Opties seem hotter, but there may be some cool week/steppings out there.

My OEM 146 CABGE (damn you Monarch) runs cooler than my CCBWE X2 4400+ but I won't know the whole story till I get them both in my WC rig.

I'm prolly gonna strip my Opty naked cause it didn't make it over 2.7 on air.

Mine must be just a bare core touching the IHS because even @ 1.45 I'm going over 50C w/ my XP90. Too much of a chicken to pop the top
