wondering if the Thermalright SLK-948U could be mounted on a P4P800SE and CT-479.
Anyone tried?
I would like to use my slk also but i guess it will interfere with the power connector and 533/400 jumper .

Would be nice if they release the adapter "Specifically" designed to fit high-performance massive heatsinks... I'm too lazy to make modifications to the device and to make it fit...![]()

i managed to get an XP120 on today, very happy, just needed a little clip bending. knocked 4c of zalman 7000 temps with about the same ambient temp.

I don't understand what the problem is...I was able to get the SLK948 to work fine without any mods...just need to solder the four power cables.
He probably used the clips instead the back plate . To use the clips i guess you need to remove the power conector and weld the wires .....probably need to bend the clips also to reduce the pressure on the die .Originally Posted by sangboy

Solder the connector, use the clips. Takes more force than normal, but that's all. Nothing fancy.Originally Posted by toledo
And I would add that in order to be safe and protect the core, either use a shim or get some of the foam pads used on drawers and cabinets to keep the cabinet doors or the drawers from banging against the cabinet (sold at hardware stores) and use these just like AMD did on their XPs.
Gautam...did you ever find those things (foam stops) and if so, are you using them? I'm messed around for a while now and haven't done anything else with my Dothan. All I really need now is to flash with the latest BIOS but I keep getting sidetracked. Too many irons in the fire, as they say.

wwwww - you dont have to cut the upper part of the jumpers.Just bend it as low as you can (lower than the die,ofcourse).A 226 pelt looks more suited for this job.Even @5v.
R_M: I've pretty much retired...I got some pads and they were too big. Got the smallest ones home depot had. Kept using the foam shim.
Sangboy: If you got the original box, they're probably in there. They look sorta like the Dothan clips, except have a much sharper angle. Thermalright charges around $5 for replacements.
The foam (not felt) pads from Home Depot compress down so they should have been alright, if "size" was an issue, they could easily be cut to what ever size you needed. I'm wondering if you didn't get the right ones.Originally Posted by Gautam

today ive changed my mobo with a p4gd1,rev1.03
the good things for the gd1 are so far:
-Vcore does not fluctuate anymore.It stays there,even in p95 load.
-Vcore up to 1.7v, versus 1.6v on p4p800se
-chipset stays at least 5C cooler than I865pe
-very good onboard sound
bad ones:
-0.3 sec lost in Pi 1mb
-$150
-latest bios (09.19.2005) does not support dothan...bleah.Had to switch back to 1005 bios.
nice job sang! I have (spiderr) a slk900, dothan and asus ready for action, but we managed to break apart (temporarily) the good old Thermalrightwithout a proper method to put it on the cpu. Now it sits on a crappy celly-d until we find a way to stick to the dothan.
PS: I think I know that deltaVery helpful 2 years ago (I think) 2.4C@4GHz 50*C full load with open window in the middle of the winter
It's the best fan ever made, 80mm is more than enough, it has such a tremendous power, in a small footprint.
