    Xtreme undercooling

i'm actually testing a really crappy 3000+ venice without IHS , i'm doing some torture tests for the community

at first i'm trying the max frequency coolingless

it's very impressive , i can run prime at 666mhz with 1volt without any cooling and i think i can do a lot better.
I can touch the core with my finger while prime is running !!!
    Temp is around 60° full

Update : 1.1Ghz prime stable passed look at this Video

Now i'm playing to find the minimal cooling for overclock this poor 3000+, results here

Ive seen a pic of a 7800gtx running without a hsf. It was sweet, the core was glowing red! Maybe pop the IHS for us?

    mmmmmh... gravy
also, stealth, i suspect that pictar was photochopped, unless you're certain it was not; if the core was glowing red, it would most likely desolder itself.

You should do a lot better if you can drop the voltage much lower

I agree with Bloody_Sorcerer either that or it only ran for a few seconds before dying. One of my 7800GTX quickly met it's demise but not fully having the waterblock seated and trying to run it a few times. When I removed the insulation from the back I saw the nail polish had actually started to melt. The card never worked again after.

I think I saw something like this on a PM before....it was crazy. Very interesting idea though, I must say--wish I had a cooler chip to try it with (I 'only' have a Venus and a Toledo).

1.2GHZ??? WTH - that's insane 78°C is really hot - i don't now, is it allowed to blow on it by your mouth to call it non-cooled??? maybe you can gain another 10MHZ LOL

maybe it's called "i was out of breath this run" instead of "i ran out of dice this time" in the future

isn't extreme underclocking and undervolting can cause permanent damage?
