it would seem a smart investment to grab two of these and ebay one which will generate a huge amount of money because its most likeley that ati will shorthand us like with the x800's

i think the X1800XL already failed to add something new with the 7800GT much cheaper and with better perfromance

By the time of release, it'll be at 500+...Anyone remember their pre-sales with the 3700+ san diego? Started at 319 and QUICKLY rose to $353 within 2 weeks. It was at $359-$369 by two days after release.... Either way perkam, take note that they said to check back at that page for pricing, as in that $430 is NOT the official price-tag that monarch will be sticking on those cards, it's just the MSRP.

It should also be noted that they DO already have the oem versions to put in combo systems and those can be bought today.

The x1800xl was already said to become easily available, it's the x1800xt that we care about... The xl is a joke compared to the 7800gt.

Not from the reviews I've seen

    1. Worthy competitor to the X800XL
    2. Catches up to the 7800GT Many Times
    3. Priced Not even a whole $100 above the GT right now.

Its the x1600xt that's i'm more worrying about, the xl is on my and many ppl's wishlists already.

    Even after this?

    http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=26710

Most sites agree that the 7800gt wins the 7800gt vs. x1800xl fight... The x1800xt is a nice card, but the xl isn't nearly as nice.

HardOcp wasnt the most neutral of the review site diltech, and had an agenda to undermine the cards due to their annoyance with ATI's availability issues.

In terms of performance, its right up there, there is no doubt about it...i can list ALL the graphs from all the review sites showing the X1800XL almost caught up, if not equal to, the 7800GT. For something that's going to debut with ATI's old core, that's no small achievement.

It's how much stuff they packed into the X1k series that makes a difference...even the r480/r430 had 16 pipes and 500/1000 core/memory clocks.

7800gt is cheaper and performance wise they are pretty even, with higher resolutions the 7800gtx gains ground against the x1800xt, if the same happens with the 7800gt is even better

Actually, the X1800XL gains ground over the GT in games like BF2 in higher resolutions

Vapor, the x1800xt lost to the 6800ultra in chronicles of riddick... It IS that bad...Their performance in doom 3 was due to other "optimizations", meanwhile their lack in other open-gl games is mindboggling.

    p.s. I laughed...
