If you have a cooling question or concern feel free to contact me.
So we should be seeing this around the same time as the X1800XT, right?
Sorry, just HAD to!

I doubt any of us would be rick.
I hope ATi has the R580 ready to go because nVidia doesnt appear to being around anymore :-/

ATI slides said R580 is ready to go. Expect much more shader power with the card (3x more?), judging from the 16-1-3-1 info.
oh man
but if Nvidia launches the G72 around the time the Radeon X1800XT finaly is available. ATI could only counter it by releasing the R580 rite? inwich case the x1800XT dies after a very short life.
if the G72 comes early 2006 Nvidia will have had the 7800GTX out on the market for what? 5 to 6 months? likely the card will have brought its money in.
if ATI has to act on this with launching the R580 the X1800XT and R520 series will have had a very short life i doubt the shareholders will like this.
but Sentential is right it seems Nvidia doesnt wanna play the waiting game anymore wich ATI and Nvidia usualy play.

The x1800xt could still sell as a midrange card in between the g70 and g72, but they will have to lower prices a few months afther release which could result in a loss.Originally Posted by Starscream
If the g72 has a significant gain over the x1800 series, ATi will have to speed up the r580 and sell it as the top card with the x1800 in second place
I think I wont update my x850xt until they release the r580, r600, g72, or g80.
ATi and nVidia are a bit unstable with so much cards being released to keep up with the competition

seems nvidia is fighting against ghost cards.
no need really to release g72 just wait and launch a dx10 card
Yep it looks like nVidia was listening and decided to do the wise thing sell products the day you release them and stick to the schedule.. If they can keep it up they will defeat Ati.. But If they screw up Now, Game over ATi wins..

No way ATI will win. What do you think Nvidia has been doing all this time after releasing GTX, Nothing? Surely they have something that could blow the R520 out of the water. ATI on the other hand can't even get R520 rolling.
Well according to the 81.84 NVDISP.INF (leaked) it may appear there is a g70 Ultra.![]()

Exactly my point. All the emphasis has been on ATI lately. Seems like people forgot Nvidia has had loads of time to develop and perfect.Who knows what they got going on over there... they might be years ahead lol..
Right now the market for graphics cards is all about trust.. nVidia has it ATi doesn't..Originally Posted by Exa.bit

yeah all eyes being on ATI for the past 3 to 4 months must have been nice for NVidia this way they could do their thing for a while, hopefully they spend their time wisely.
@Turok
yeah.
some say the 512MB version of the X1800XT is very expensive to make and that ATI likely makes no or hardly any profit on them, so lowering them to b mid range orso will likely mean making a loss on selling them wich is i think not what ATI has had in their mind.

exactly. anybody talking about ATi being made or broken profit-wise form the XT is wayy off base.
[ramble]Even if the 1800XT was available en masse at launch, I can only imagine it would still only count for <1% of overall GFX card sales. Both ATi and Nvidia make their money in the mass-consumer end, meaning the X1300 and X1600(and Nvidia equivalents) and from the integrated chipset graphics. Halo cards are not built to be cash cows, simply b/c the market for them is not large at all. They are built to show consumers what ATi is capable of, i.e. if ATi has the fastest card overall and thats what Joe Blow has heard about in the news as being the fastest, then Joe is going to go to Best Buy or Circuit City and buy an ATi card, even though its probably a much lower-end model.
People like us are most certainly the exception in the PC hardware markets. But we do still play an important role for these companies. We are the "computer guy" in all of our respective circles of friends/family, and as such we carry a lot of clout regarding hardware choices. I was gonna type more, but I'm OT already. [/ramble]

eBoy0....that's the 7800Vanilla from what I've heard.
The x1800xt will be in xs members' hands by nov...the comment that it will be released q1 2k6 was a joke.
Though this seems intriguing, there is no information confirming that this will indeed be faster than the X1800XT. It may well be Nvidia's response to the X1300 and X1600 - which, might I add, wouldn't take a lot - the 6600GT beats or equals the x1600 many times in real world game tests
