So why are we getting excited over a card no one can buy and no one can even preorder.

This is like getting excited over Pamela Anderson having a kid becuase onne day that kid might be a hot :banana::banana::banana: star also. It makes no sense

It would be nice if (or maybe not for ATI), we could get a comment on the availability date from Greyskull.

It's about 1k lower than I anticipated....then again I expect big things from big OCers with corporate provided LN2.

Anyway, new drivers + a better card (it wasn't the best they had) should crack 13k soon enough.

yeah, just gotta remember, that while the 1+ month wait does suck for the XT, that is another month that they have to refine thier drivers.

The X1800XL is scheduled to arrive in NA stores Oct. 10.
The X1800XT will arrive Nov. 1st.

Expect the XL to launch at ~$450. If you can find one with a rebate below $400, you might as well start bashing your head in advance for the mere possibility of missing the deal.

I'm looking forward to the Pro and the LE version of the X1800...if either of them actually exist

Well, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised that the x1800XT performs as well as it does. Especially after all the rumors about how slow it was. It looks very competitive, indeed ,in the single card category. Dual card, however, th story changes.

I really have to invest in a better CPU.

The new cards perform good, but it will be interesting to see how Crossfire will be

Good news on that score. From AT:

First and foremost, master cards will include a dual-link TMDS receiver to allow resolutions greater than 1600x1200 to run. This alone will make CrossFire on the X1000 series infinitely more useful than the current incarnation.

I think what happened is they didn't have pics of the final bench setup, just card testing in those shots. Based on the ram speed I'd say they had the FX on LN2.

So you know what Nvidia has finished but not released yet ?
Or do you just assume they have ?
If ATI fails big time then there wont be any hurry to make faster cards for Nvidia. And that would be very bad for people that want new tech and faster cards every 6-12 month.

(No offense but typing "LOL" all the time might be seen as you think you know alot more then other people)

Trust me they have a card that will smash this x1800xt, but atm no point as ATI cant even produce this 16pipe basic card for the masses
