but considering this is replacing the x300 and not the x700 this is very impressive.

Yes but the retail price is $150 and at that price the 6600gt and even things from ati's last gen line-up beat it.

lol out of all the forums I've seen, I have yet to see you make a decent comment regarding R520. GJ.

Beating 6600 with weaker (visible) specs across the board? It's impressive no matter how much you distort it. Let's see you list a 4 pipelined NV card that does as well as RV515... NVIDIA will need a card with twice the amount of pipelines just to tie with it!

    ---

The retail is extravagent, yes. It'll go down fast though, since it'll be cheap and plentiful. I wouldn't be surprised if the price drops below $120 (probably will be around $100-$110) the first month it's out.

Shadow, look at the thread I posted on this on EOCF, then rethink your post.

I'm not making any new stickies anytime soon guys...I'll see how the launch plays out first.

Not a bad idea though Cooper.

These reviews are a joke, one says the X1800XT is faster than the 7800GTX in farcry 1.33, another says the opposite, and another says they're about the same, all were run at 1600x1200 no AA or AF.

This isnt the thread for that...this is for discussing/listing review sites only.

HKPolice > You positive they were using the exact same testing systems in all cases, and they were all using the same drivers, software etc. Moreover, as you probably know, different bench runs generates different scores, so there is a small error marigin that must considered too. Then again, I agree, they are awfully close (closer still than nextgen, before refreshes ofc).

Still, I think my two XFX 7800GTX 490/1300 SLI are the clear winners here... hehe. But, we might see some stock oc'd XTs too (press edition)^2.

edit: Must confess I don't much like the looks of this...

    @16x12 wtf???

Not to worry slider, keep in mind that's prolly a 512MB version of the X1800XT, and Nvidia's 512MB version will try to topple this in the upcoming weeks.

the results are very different.... but overall its not THAT much better then gtx. The adjustable core volatge is though. Anyways I do not see a point in waiting another few months and ill just go grab a gtx, which will be my first nvidia card ever....

I see you have HUGE monitor
Personally I agree with One Hertz - GTX already on the sale and 2 of those still make GREAT performance.
ATI did make really new product - R520 has very good new features like adjustable voltages and multy-threaded shaders (IMO REAL 1st step to WGF 2.0)

I wouldnt mind the X1800LE or PRO or whatever comes under the $300 mark anytime in the next 3 months or so....seeing as the X1600XT has proved itself to be "uber crapola with a sidedish of pwned -_- "
