Were these all lapped? Have you tried a more powerful fan on the BT and Scythe?

ZM9500 + TT BT is lapped, Ninja is'nt.
Ninja has best bottom, not shiny but straight, perfect contact
1 problem, could'nt install my Mushkin RL XP4000 to DIMM4, first orange slot from S939, because 2 clips of cooler attachment to socket is in the way

PWMIC went HOT, because the last lamel is closed = nothing air flow to mobo
But very good cooler, no doubt!

Fan attachment is very poor, cant accept those iron wire tuning

But an nice clean wind tunnel should be very effective, now when my TT 120mm FAN blows trough Ninja and temps are that good so what then...

Blocks a DIMM slot? That's a no-no for me, I use all 4.

Good info you've got there man....so surprised to see the 9500 win though.

Anyway, any other fans going to be tested?

The 9500 usually performs a degree or 2 better in an open environment.

In a case, the Big Typhoon still beats it

check the Xbitlabs review too, they had the same findings.

the clips on the ninja overhang an orange slot, but ive never been prevented from putting a stick of ram in it

I had the same findings on single core chips, there is very little difference if any. When you up the ante to a dual core, you may find different results. For me the degrees of separatation went from zippo on single core Venice to up to 8 degress on a dual core CPU..the BT was just better. On the desk, in a case whilst a mugger was being maced....the BT was cooler. I have no idea why, this is just my experience, your mileage may vary. I did try several times though....

P.S. I can assure you I lapped and polished SFA, I'm simply too lazy. It either works or doesn't.

Nice test, but could you try comparing the fans when set to a low noise level (equal if possible). I'd like to know the cooling to noise performance goes (I'm planning to OC to 2.5 Ghz with an X2 3800+).

Open air tests are a lot different than ones performed in closed cases.
I don't believe that many of us here have open air systems...

I would love to see a comparison between Zalman 9500, TT BT and a XP-90C with a 50 cfm fan. Many of clockers have some semi-silent fans that deliver 50 cfm with about 30 dba. This would be a good test to do.

BT owns the XP-90C with a slow fan. By around 10C for me! Besides, BT is silent as hell.
