    I thought it was established that the opteron's will lower too, with that 5*multi shot. Also arent there some 2mb cache 939 opterons coming out?

    Right. They can lower multi.

    dont they have the same l2 cache (1m)?
    and iirc u can change opterons' multiplier to lower value?

    San Diego has the same L2 cache size as Venus. Venus is related to the Socket940 processors, not to Socket939.

    No, Venus and San Diego = 1 Mb ... this is the same core with two name.
    Also, the multi are not locked to down
