    What's better than LN2?
Liquid Helium....:p...but i didnt mean this...

By Gray Skull ayt page 6 of this thread....
The cards were not cherries...I tried an off the line card and it actually clocked higher than what has been reported and it wasn't even under LN2, it was using the famous Chilly1 Xtremefrostbyte III (-80C) and only slight volt modding. Believe me when I tell you this is only scratching the surface. A true hardcore run with LN2 and significant volts should achieve some never before seen GPU speeds.

mates i believe sampsa, would be really stupid if ati didn't pick the best cards for the launch is something logical.

    Waiting for results...

whats better than ln2 y believe is helium but is way to expensive and complicated to use (i believe helium is down at 250-260ºC ln2 is about 175ºC)

you can't say sampsa stupid cause of the cards....

    i believe exactly the different...

if ati had cherry picked cards there....then,all the o/c people will be disapointed......so...the cards where random...and believe me.....there will be much more better scores...

Sure they picked outta the cards they had onhand for each person, maybe, but because sapphire makes the cards, not ATI, there CAN'T be "cherry-picking" as is suggested...becasue ATI does not have that chance. Only Sapphire does...

You guys are *EDIT*, do you believe those charts???
They have no proof of the real score yet.
I don't understand why you are so trusting the fake details.

One way I'll believe that if any body crop the screen that shows 3Dmark 0X information, show the card series, show the real score.

Just telling that R520 is faster than 7800GTX, just post it's core and memory, but why can't the person who test this card show the real socre????

Why they have to put ???? instead of the score.

If anybody believe them, you are *EDIT*

The fact that I was able to take a random card and get higher clocks with much less temperature only proves this.

If Macci + Sampsa did have a cherry picked card and ran it with LN2 they should be getting unmatchable overclocks...which they obviously aren't.
How can you cherry pick cards if there are only a handful made?

or is ATI actually planning to launch a product instead of a concept this time?

    A. We'll find out when they come out.

    B. Neither Sampsa nor Grayskull are lying, and pls refrain from making any distasteful remarks towards either of them. They just have different definitions of what "cherry-picked" means.

I'm sure the cards were the best clockers they had on hand but I doubt that they went through every freakin card and gave them the absolute best, they didnt give them duds but they were not out of the ordinary. Thats my guess. Not like it matters anyway

Just for clarifiaction there Greyskull, but you are suggesting that no cards were done on either:

    Stock
    High End Air
    Water Cooling

    Right?

I understand that this is a benching event and that mostly LN2 / Cascades will be used but frankly I am more interested in standard air or water based clocks.

Reason I ask is because I do plan on perhaps buying either an XL or a PRO but my motivation is going to be a cross between yeilds and leakage. There is no question that you guys have a sure-fire winner here that nVidia will probably not be able to counter.

Im just looking for the next $250-350 clock-cut-down (not pipes) Vcard to replace my X800PRO with (ie a Ti4200, 9800NP or 6800GT of the era). A card that will not match in ram speed but will in core speed to what an XT is capable of

Although not cherry picked you can be sure for a fact there would be no duffers amongst them bescause you have to at least make sure they have some headroom so that when Joe Bloggs hardware reviewer tests them at stock they do not go pop and give a bad impression.

Lets call it filtering/testing rather than cherry picking, that's probably more accurate.

The most impressive thing about these new cards is the IQ it seems, sadly of course we'll have to throw that sort of heresy out the window and get rid of all Ati's good work in that regard

    Regards

    Andy

How can they Cherry pic cards if they only have like 10 working samples?!

We might have to wait till November/December to get them enmass (well sort of) so yea, although I'm excited....this all is a Fiasco for ATI...(again, just like Crossfire)

I believe on launch day there will be 10 units worldwide which will go out to the press and none will go to Etailors......

Expect small numbers to come through to the UK end of this month or early November and no doubt OcUK will have exclusive as we take priority in the UK and if stock is seriously limited then yes the price will be very high, but don't blame OcUK, blame ATI as OcUK is a business and were here to make money and obviously if something is rare and not available easily then more money has to be made. Its just like say a Ferrari Enzo you pay to have something that most can't afford....

P.S. Its looking doubtful that X1800 XL will be available on day of launch as well, keeping fingers crossed for end of this week at the moment.

On Wednesday we shall place cards on pre-order from Connect3D, HIS, PowerColor and Sapphire. We hope to recieve HIS and Sapphire X1800 XL 256MB stock this week and pricing is still yet to be confirmed.....

If we do recieve any X1800 XT's this month then it will probably be less than 50 units, we will no doubt be the only Etailor with stock and the price will be high until allocation problems go away.

When Overclockers and other etailers will have stocks of X1800XTs, they will charge it at high prices of £580/$1017 for the next 3 months.
Enough "proof" for you or shall I continue? That is what makes R520 vaporware and even if it's gonna be fast, it's hilarious how ATI still can do this stuff...

Edit: Ow, btw...did you see that lovely EU pricetag? £580/$1017 for the next 3 months.
