Dothan +P4GD1 + Clockgen !!! Help

I'm having problems with Clockgen for some reason . If i set a fsb larger than 150mhz my Windows XP freezes . I'm able to get in to Windows up to 2800 Mhz at 1.278v using the bios but when i use clockgen i have to increase using 5Mhz increments anything other than that makes my computer freeze . It is really annoying .

BTW ....pm770/ P4GD1 / bh-5 / OCZ powerstream and using same settings that Kamerat used in his review .

Does it have anything to do with Windows ? (sp1 or sp2 ? ) . Suggestions are welcome

You are right , i need to boot at 201+ in order to have it locked but I don't believe that is the problem for such low fsb . The problem is that i can set higher fsb in bios than in clockgen . People use this board without lock up to 240~250 without problems besides the fact that boot at 200+ for a 770 is almost impossible

Thats why we need multi settings in bios from Asus. NOW!

I think most people on P4GD1 have experienced problems with clockgen and SetFSB. The PCI freqs goes all over the place!

Afaik the lacking PCI-E lock is something inherent in the 915P chipset, although it would be the bomb if it could be fixed with at bios update!

What FSB are you booting at, and what FSB are you aiming at through clockgen?

I'll try it out here on my 730.

what I was thinking,

when you boot at say, 150, you get 100/33
when you up from there ur pci-e/pci goes up too

when you boot from 166 you get 100/33, when u up from there it goes up too...

dunno how you're gonna get 200FSB though...

but 2800 @ 1.276V...

might do 3200 @ say 1.6V

@WWW. It is not stable at 2800 but migh be a good chip . I`m booting between 166 and 175 at this voltage set in bios

@stryg . I guess clockgen is causing me problems for some reason , Kamerat did much higher fsb with the same settings , but agree with you we need multis ASAP

More suggestions are welcome , it is really annoying

I can boot up to 175 fsb , now i`m using 166x16 at 1.278v . But when boot at 133 and set to 150 using Clockgen my windows freezes ........weird!!!!

Booting at 166FSB is a no-go?

Try stepping up through clockgen in small steps (150-200MHz at a time).

That helped out some in the early 865/875 Dothan days

Also, heading for 150x16 ar 1.278vcore might be a little harsh if you havent got a wonder CPU.

Give it 1.6vcore, boot at 133x16, PCI-E=115, PCI=33.33, chipset voltage=1.6.

I run prime small fft for 5hs at 166x16 and 1.278v in bios . The bios migh be overvolting but i did that using bios . BTW i said that in the first post , i need to increase the fsb in 5 mhz increments for example if i try raise from 133 to 150 it crashs my Windows but if i do like 138....142....150 it works up to 200~215 . I really do not understand
