Recently I get random 0x116 BSOD's. The BSOD's didn't occur during gaming yet. I got the BSOD's mainly when performing random desktop activities and at random moments. I really hope someone can help me or is already familiar with this error.
I debugged the memory.dmp and minidump file and it gave me a "video TDR failure". After some googling it seems that this is a difficult error for narrowing down the problem because it seems that it can be software and/or hardware related. The debug file also mentions an error in the atikmpag.sys file under C:\Windows\System32\Drivers directory.
I only performed a handfull of debugs before so I'm not very familiar with such results and where to look for exactly. Uploading attachments isn't working at the moment but you can find the minidump file here. Could someone please take a look at the dump file?
What I did this far with no succes?
1) Tried different versions of ATI drivers.
2) Reinstalled Windows.
3) Tried different versions of ATI drivers on the fresh installation.
4) Stress tested my gfx card with 3D Mark (settings on extreme and maximum amount of passes).
5) CPU and RAM OC settings in bios back to default (gfx card is and was never OC'ed).
6) Looked at my gfx card temps with GPU-z and took 1 screenshot during gaming and 1 while idle. I'm not sure how to read the temps because my 5870 is a single GPU while the temp of GPU #3 worries me. However during gaming I haven't had a BSOD yet while gaming generates the most heat of course. Fancontroller is still working when comparing fanspeed under load and idle.
7) Tested RAM with memtest86+ for approx. 16 hours and 15 passes.
8) Cleaned my computer (including gfx card) with airduster.
9) Installed ATI 12.6 driver yesterday and turned up the fanspeed manually to 40%. Used this guide to perform a complete clean install of the ATI driver.
10) No idea what to do next???
