Right I was just surfing around on this parents computer when I've come here for a visit when the computer suddenly started locking up, I was worried that perhaps the HDDs that are very old maxtors were about to give up or ram or cpu unstability from the mild overclocks. Having tried a couple of times with different bios settings and stock settings and it still locked up I decided to try with one RAM stick, as soon as I opened the sidepanel a terrible almost funny view appeared, the 9800 GT fan was lying on my sound card. After that I was like I BETTER SHUT OFF this comp b4 the gpu's gonna catch fire. xD
The thing got so hot I managed to get a white burn mark from one of the fins on my finger (the heatsink even at the outer edge was really burning hot):
The heatsink had gotten so warm it could melt plastic, both a shroud for the cooler and the fan's screwholders had melted from the heat and also the fan's cables were a bit burnt and I tried seating the fan back with small wires through the screwholes but the comp didn't even start so I thought GPU was really dead then but after waiting a bit it actually started but yea fan is still broken so gotta take care of that

Quality and performance my %#&
But the fan was really dead so I decided to look if I would find any extra fans collecting dust here at parents place and talking about dust...
There should be better (It's some old Revoltec 92mm 1900rpm fan)
My best friend zip-ties comes to the rescue as usual

some nostalgia parts in there yep, that's my old 2005 setup with DFI Lanparty nForce4 SLI-DR mobo, Opteron 165, OCZ PowerStream 520W and OCZ Gold VX ram, hardly a "typical" comp to own for parents.
The card is the one I got back from a 8800GT RMA so ofc they have to send me something with low quality, should have warranty on this thing yet so I could probably get a GTS 250 now (since 9800GTs are out of stock by now so would be the 2nd time I get a "different" card) but I'm too lazy to RMA this time.
