Removing IHS from a Prescott
With the warmer temps coming from summer, I am having a harder time to maintain my Prescott overclock on water. It seems that when I could maintain my load temp to below 55C my Prescott Primes for 24+ hours, but if my temps get a few degrees above that Prime will crash. The main difference is the ambient temp in my room high 60's to low 70's F versus closer to 80 deg F now. I tested this my crankin my AC and it was stable again. The idea I have is one would think it is possible to lap the IHS off. Start with a really low grit to remove alot of material and sand it down to the core. Obviously as you got closer you would have to move up in grit so as not to go too far and remove the core. Has anyone ever tried anything like this or does anythink it might be possible. I would really like to keep my Prescott. I just found a 2.8 MO and it didn't even clock nearly as high as my Prescott.
