Optimus Prime Asus P7P55D Premium P55 Overclocking Review
Hi guys, this is my 2nd review ever, so go easy on me ^_^
There are allot of reviews online regarding the base features of this board so i don't intend to elaborate on that, i am here to review the overclockability and performance of the:
Asus P7P55D Premium P55
Starting off, the theme of this board is excellent. It's a really good looking board.
It features 32+3 Phases! Which is an insane amount of power. My Corsair HX 1000w PSU's fan doesn't even spin when i'm using this board even under Subzero clocking with high frequencies. It just demonstrates the power efficiency of this board.
Featuring super fast SATA 6G and USB 3. This Motherboard is the perfect 24/7 / overclocking / gaming / office board.
But i'm not here to test how fast i can copy a file from my usb!
Let's get some pic's down.

Who can guess where the idea for the heatsinks came from!

Oh yes. Optimus Prime.

They should have considered calling it the Optimus P7P55D Prime-ium.
And while their doing the Transformers theme i wonder what the heatsinks of Megan Fox would look like

Ok enough Jokes, The board looks great, the spec's are good, lets see if it can live up to Optimus Prime's legacy.
The BIOS:
The board has a really attractive bios. A wide veriety of settings more than enough to achieve highest OC.
I played around with clocks on cold water and achieved a CPU-Z Validation of 4.9ghz. The file was lost when i validated with another board :/. Another sweet item this board has is the TurboV remote.
The Remote works through this tool: VERY USEFUL!

The remote:

It overclocks BLCK (FSB) realtime, so you can change the CPU-Z mhz whenever you like! Its hand-held with a power switch aswel. Very cool little tool.
After i was satisfied with the air and water results i moved on TO:
SubZero Testing

Test Setup:
•Vivi's Bahamut CPU pot
•Dry Ice Cooling (-66c)
•Asus P7P55D Premium P55 socket 1156
•Asus GTX 295.
•Intel Core i7 860. Batch L934B371
•Corsair 2000mhz CL8 Dominator GT's (2x 2048mb)
•Corsair HX 1000W Power Supply
1st Impressions:
The Board is very stable under SubZero temperatures! With my cpu (i860) i have to set my QPI multiplier to it's lowest value. The Board will not boot otherwise (but its my cpu's problem not the board). So that took a while and lots of frustration to figure out, because it was fine on Air and Water to have QPI link maxed out.
After booting clocking was very easy. This 32 Phase monster board is extremely strong. No cpu can touch this board, it has enough phase to power our house if he was up to it. The 32 phases isnt for nothing, it can be seen in the stability of the cpu and volts when overclocking.
High cpu-z validations were acquired along with very stable clocks with HT Enabled.
I said it in my Maximus III Gene review and i will say it again:
The most important setting you HAVE TO ! ENABLE ! is LoadLine Calibration. i will explain.
THE CPU IS AMAZINGLY UNSTABLE with LCC OFF.
CPU VOLTAGE
LLC Disabled = 1.45v (In bios), 1.39v real (In windows), 1.28v (LOAD). Thats a Vdrop of .06v and then a further massive Vdroop of .1v!
LLC Enabled = 1.45v (In bios), 1.45v real (In Windows), 1.45v (LOAD). I saw 0 vdroop or drop with this board... making it extremely efficient with power. Those 32 phases doing their JOB!
Settings IN BIOS UNDER SUBZERO -63c
CPU-V : 1.5435
VTT: 1.325
PLL: 1.8
DDR: 1.65 (and 1.72 for high mhz memory testing)
PCH: 1.15
Loadline: Enabled
Phase : Full Phase!
RESULTS:
Max CPU-Z Validation.

Conclusion:
Very strong board.
It's strengths lie in it's use for a 24/7 user. Sure its AMAZING at overclocking and you wont' be disappointed even the slightest, but it doesn't score 100% according to the cpu clock i am at vs the Maximus III Gene. BUT WOW can it keep the cpu stable in 06 with HT on. One of the most stable boards i have ever worked with.
Pros:
•Strong phase power system, for Optimus stability.
•Live's up to it's Optimus Prime Tag.
•Very fast (USB 3 and new SATA)
•Very good and cool looking.
•You get 100% value for the price.
Cons:
•Score's a tiny bit lower than it should. But can most likely be fixed with 1 bios update.
•With 32 Phases the stability is better for sure, but still only validates as high as a Maximus III Gene.
Can't think of many negatives... this board is the meaning of the word STABLE.

My verdict
8/10
Great Board
