Sorry but this is BS. If 3dfx's tech was so fantastic they wouldn't have gone belly up and gotten mopped up by Nvidia in the first place. Not to mention their tech back then was cost inefficient from a manufacturing standpoint and completely irrelevant in today's world. Back then graphics cards were little more than texture units.
Nvidia has held back some things - rotated grid AA comes to mind and maybe even tessellation too (we'll only know how practical tessellation would've been on past architectures when we see how it does on the new cards). But in terms of growth of the industry itself? Name another company that has done more to promote the PC as a gaming platform.
