790gx/PH II

Well my board finally arrived and since the PH II thread is a little cluttered I decided to start my own thread as I will be documenting alot of results and settings and comparison.

System specs are as follows and subject to change. I will note any changes made as I make them.

Motherboard - gigabyte MA790GP-DS4H
CPU - Phenom II 940 AMD ( courtesy of AMD )
Memory - 4x1g corsair ddrII 800/OCZ 2x2g ddrII 1066 [*EDIT*] These have been swapped out for 2x2gig OCZ golds (1066 5-6-6 2.1v), they do so far over 1100mhz @ 5-5-5-15 2.1v on this board.
PSU - Trusty old seasonic S12 500W [*EDIT*] This has been replaced with a PC P&W for general purpose and crossfire testing
HD - trusty old 36g raptor
Cooling - OCZ vindicator ( for initial, High end air, Phase and DI/ln2 results to come )
IGP 3300 for intial testing [*EDIT*] Currently using 2x 2600 pro 512mb in X fire [*EDIT*] Currently using 2x 4850 512mb in X fire

Initial setup and first power on was a success, it appears the bios needs updating. I will start with F3i.

All right XP sp3 is all in, registry is backed up for those OOps OCing sessions, couple of problems to note, Audio device on HD audio bus, ( had this problem on another board, I will tend to it in a few days ) and AOD ( AMD over drive ) doesn't seem to think i'm using an AMD cpu


*EDIT* fix for hdaudiobus, you will need to install the HDaudiobus driver before installing audio drivers, If you point it towards the unzipped realtek drivers it will install in XP, vista is a little more complicated and requires you to drop the files needed in the windows bin32 driver folder.

*EDIT* AOD 2.14 works fine and appears to report correct temps, bios reports bogus temps......

***EDIT*** those looking for max Oc's on board I highly suggest F2 bios for now, I will see if I can pull some strings for a better bios, If you are looking for an everyday use bios turn away now....
***EDIT*** F3o Bios is probably the best current bios for this board now with Phenom 2, Those attempting to OC with 4gigs installed and getting a paging faults error on boot should try this bios....
