Talking Corsair 4GB DDR2 PC9136 Kit 2D/3D benchmarks @ 600MHz +E7300+9800GX2+Gigabyte X38-DQ6

    G'day from Team.AU once again!

I received a retail kit of Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR2 PC9136 kit for torture the other day from their latest addition to high capacity DDR2 range.

    RAM Specs: http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/T...6-9136C5DF.pdf
    Part# TWIN2X4096-9136C5DF

Binned for both Nvidia and Intel chipsets. I prefer using Intel chipsets as they are a lot more efficient on DDR2 platform...........DDR3 platform is different however where 790i rules them all

    Test Configuration:
Gigabyte X38-DQ6 (F9a bios) STOCK BOARD NO MODS
    Intel Core2 Duo E7300 CPU
    4GB DDR2 PC9136 Corsair Dominators
    Gigabyte 9800GX2 Graphics Card
    620W Corsair PSU
    TT BigTyphoon Cooling CPU
    160GB IDE Hard Drive
    Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3

STOCK SPEED 32M SuperPi to warm up a little

I've used 2.08vdimm to test max stable frequency
    >>>> 596MHz stable with superpi and 3D <<<<

GOAL >> SHOOT FOR 600MHz MARK
non-Micron ICs have shown a tendency to not scale well with voltage. I've seen this during my testing as well as bumpin the RAM to 2.13v only gave me a semi stable 600MHz even with relaxed tRFC (btw this timing will gain stability with high capacity RAM >> performance toll is insignificant as well )

Well time to bump vdimm some more (unfortunately vdimm jumps on this particular Gigabyte board are fairly big +0.05v which sometimes doesn't help with volt sensitive RAM >> new gen motherboards coming out VERY soon have this fixed with incredibly small volt jumps )

    RAM bump to 2.23vDIMM

    Validation file (509MHz FSB; 611MHz RAM 5-5-5-15):

Did a quick test with this Gigabyte 9800GX2
783-1944-1188 stock card '01 Nature stable

LN2 runs on CPU and air OCs on this GFX coming up soon

CPU is not too shabby either for a value chip

i found the trick to high FSB on this CPU and board is to use the new F9a bios (older one was limited to 380MHz FSB ) and also to use GTL Ref +3% and second one on NORMAL for about 520MHz benchable FSB
