uOPT,
"...decisive thing here that makes you able to go backwards? That you rename the file? Or that you use AFUDOS 2.11?..."
AFUDOS 2.11/2.17 does not seem to have "revision check" as later DOS flashers.
- there are some sensitivities between BIOS'es CPUs/OS/features, which may be the reason later flashers discourage backward flashing.
- examples: [1707 + JMicron ROM + Vista SpeedStep]; [2004 + Enhance memory compatibility]; [1602 + Enhance HDD compatibility]
- see P5WDH BIOS section for more details: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
- renaming target BIOS to "p5wdh.rom" is the default filename "CrashFree" process looks for, on floppy or USB drive.
Thanks for specifying the detail of why we use 2.11/2.17 and rename the BIOS for reversion BIOS flashing. Your memory retention is better than mine - it works so I had forgotten the detail!
