Stick to your old controller if your not going to use it as a RAID controller for more the two disks. Running RAID easily maxes out the bandwith usage on the PCI bus.

132MB/s is the theorethical limit of 32bit PCI running at 33MHz.
250MB/s up and 250MB/s down are the theorethical limits of PCI-E 1x at 100MHz
