Main part of my dry-ice project...

    ... of course, it's a dry-ice container.

It isn't exactly made by me but by another person which kinda is a local modding guru and has all the tools

So I told him the specs and he manufactured it.

Unfortunately, we couldn't get a hold of a 1cm thick baseplate so we used a 1.5cm thick one, however, the holes we drilled in the base are 1cm deep and they're a lot there. Hopefully they will outweigh the negative effects of the additional thickness.

Will test this thing next week to see my San Diego flying (hopefully) , as of right now, it isn't doing it on air at all

    So here are the pics:

Very nice, looks good and a nice clean attachment of the tube to base.

    Let me start.

Looks nice, i'm excited to see which temps you can hold with that baseplate

nice container and nice drilled holes.

but i don't like soldered containers, just for dice would be good so it will do

    let that cpu flyin

Whats the disadvantage with soldering may i ask?

I use Acetone+oxygen and FOSCO (whats it called in English?) and connection is very strong and conducts heat pretty well too.

solder joints can crack due the extreme temps.

each material grows or gets smaller depents on the temperature.
if you pour into the container some ln² and it touch the base it means the base gets smaller faster then the tube so it might crack.

thats all, i think you don't like your mobo covered with ln²

That has crossed my mind but that right stuff is specially made for connecting copper.

Of course the low temperature soft soldering (~300c frying pan and tin+silver) is another thing... Even tough I have never heard of this cracking happened to anyone overclocking with ln2

I soldered my first container, and after some time benching with dry ice it was leaking.
If you can braze your container.

Oh. So braze means this high temp (~1000c) connecting and soldering is when you have only 200-300c and tin.. So then i have always brazed my containers. I have been little sceptical with that low temp connection too but havent heard of them cracking up. Good to know its possible tough.

This hold down is'nt good, it gonna be frost on it...
Wood or thick PVC would be great

    i use ertalite for holddowns
you can use wood too offcourse
    http://users.telenet.be/jortcollijn/...g/holddown.JPG

or plexi but try not to get it in contact with your container or the pressure and cold will let it crack

Well, last weekend finally there was some DI action for me...

The first time was very interesting, in fact, so much fun that I even forgot to run a single SuperPi 1M shot (3dmark wasn't in my program this time) Also, no camera home for me so no pics (although nothing spectacular to show anyway )

Mainly it was because I was aiming at the top score on a local benchmark, called Bootmark. Needless to say, I succeeded , and here is the screen of it, beating the previous top score, a 3 Ghz air cooled San Diego and Gskill TCCD by some 150 points:

However, as you might notice, I had a lot of problems as well (look at that pathetic memory frequency). The main unexpected thingy was the inability to boot to Windows at speeds of higher than 240 htt (and, if booting lower and using Clockgen, it also made system to freeze) for the first hour I fired the system up. Had even twice to clone Windows to completely naked OS, and then mysteriously just when I wanted to conclude a complete disaster for the evening, suddenly Clockgen didn't freeze the system anymore... although I had already disabled USB in bios, changed LDT to 2.0, played around with voltages like I never remember myself doing it previously.

Also, my VX had the same borders I discovered already back in February while still on Winchester cpu (~270 htt @3.6-3.8 Vdimm), so I had to use dividers to climb for higher cpu mhz (for 3000+ Mhz, you need at least 273 htt).

With this Sandy, I was able to post at 3360 Mhz @ 1.9 Vcore and even run the bios built in Memtest, however, in Windows the highest I could get with Clockgen was 285htt and 3138 Mhz @ 1.85Vcore, 180 divider, anything higher made the system to freeze.

Temps were around -37C to -34C in bios, Smartguardian in Windows measured ~212, that is, -44C, and load temps didn't change much so I guess the container was quite good.

Needless to say, I'm looking to more DI adventures ahead, as this first time was very interesting, and kept me for intense action from 8pm to 4am in the morning without any additional "steroids" like coffee or coca cola

Btw, what surprises me, is the temperature you have shown in your pic. Where did you measure that and how were the temps measured for the cpu under load in bios/windows?

It was measured in baseplate in there was no reading in bios/windows because msi neo2 cant read -temperatures.

Hmmm I like the tube drop in. Good for ln2, but not so good for dice.
