I dunno...i think grayskull is calling 'em on. "Just what are you willing to wager?" is what i hear...and "it best be good, or ya gonna have to wait."

you oughta supply the slave card, and let gskull supply the master card. That will help show that no cherry picking occurred here....

16k is more than possible. 3DMark05 is becoming a bit CPU/System limited with this kind of Video speed (even with one card at 900MHz)

You ought to be a RAM salesman

So, is macci going to tell the other overclockers this secret tweaking you have taught him because nobody else, including the top overclockers has got near to 900Mhz before, including macci of course.

    Andy

PS I would not write off Sampsa and Kamu lightly, they are very good overclockers as well and would no doubt use Ln2 on both cards. In theory they should be able to beat macci's score.

They have to be hand picked cards, there is just no other explanation for that core clock. Macci knows his stuff but we're not born yesterday.

If there are secrets, I'm sure they will remain unspoken at least for a while. Maci did hint us into the Ricky Tweak so he may eventually show us the secret

Actually there is another very reasonable explanation. Macci got an awesome kick a$$ piece of cooling hardware coupled with a few extra tweaks he might have learned from ATI which made all the difference and pushed the card to 900mhz...

edit: but then again i maybe wrong and it might be cherry picked hardware. But i tend to trust grayskull when he says that its not cherry picked. Regardless I'd like to see Nvidea top that score with their 6800 ultras...

I would tend to lean on perfect contact and insane capacity. It was holding -84c -+1 and that screen shot showed his core clock at 904Mhz and the card core temp of -76c!

Dont forget about the CPU is also powered by the same cascade.

    Macci and Grayskull...

Can you give any info on what is needed to pass 15k ?? - Drivers will properly get better with time...

    BUt...

    Is it realistic to hit 15k in 05 with 2x x850XT at 700 / 650 mhz??? (Im gonna go for waterchilling at 25 degree's C @ LOAD...)

As to whether or not it will be too late, only time will tell.
Well you were the one who said:

As far as I know, no other overclocker has the Crossfire hardware so it's pretty hard even to try to beat the score

Actually not just like you An X2 was tested under the cold a long time ago and it ran 266 2-2-2-5 @X12 (3180 MHz) completely stable on the Crossfire Edition motherboard. Maybe I should let Macci have a crack at PCMark while he's here.

Crossfire hardware will be available soon enough and everyone can take a crack at it.

Believe what you will, but I will tell you again, these are not hand picked cards. What you should consider is that someone knows how to tweak things better than anyone else. It is possible and in this case it is true.

He has always made ATI go very very fast, it's nothing new. He always achieves very high card clocks and only a few other guys get into the same realm, I considered that.

What I find hard to believe is that you would fly him over to play around with just average hardware.

Either way it is an amazing feat and not too surprising coming from Macci.

I haven't really pushed an X850 before - the AGP X800XTPE I've got has served me well for 3D runs so far
We've seen OPP do over 850 w/ cascade - the biggest tweak for the 904 clock was the cooling - LN2, the core contact wasn't bad either

edit: I think we reached around 864 with XtremeFrostByte3 at -85C.

...but yes I suppose it does take a bit more than just the cooling and the Vgpu mod to get there...

And it was a PC Power&Cooling 850W PSU.

PD: Did you enjoy your stay @ Barcelona? I live there actually, just curious 'bout your impression of my city
Loved it - will be there again sometimes this summer (<- big beer from Tapa-apat )

Any dates yet when the public can grab one?

Believe what you will, but I will tell you again, these are not hand picked cards.
Any back up to this? If I grab a PE (currently have non-PE maxing @ 755 fully modded and running approx. -50C under load) and throw it on LN2 fully modded but can only grab 850-875 you'll exchange cards?

BTW once again macci awesome runs! Any chance of running 01 or 03 in the near future or just gonna hold off?

    LN2 really is the 5h|t
Great work macci as always, but isn't time for Dothan and a X850XT PE AGP now?

Yes, I hadn't realised you were on LN2 as that was not mentioned before I posted, I was under the impression it was under cascade. It's interesting to note how well the cheap TSMC 110nm process overclocks compared to the more expensive low K 130nm TSMC process ...given enough cold.

may i asume that crossfire sucks at 3dmark03 or 3dmark01??? couse no benches are showed??

also macci said he is might brake 01 with a dothan and a x800xt, is crossfire not giving enough or is it because the x850xt are slower mhz by mhz than the x800xt??

I don't think ATI would want to spend any time benching pre-release hardware on an old benchmark

Hang in there someone will show us very soon what it's really capable of.
