*NEW-DFI NF4-D*.. Mod to SataII and SLI..

I posted this in my other thread but figured since its a new mobo it deserves its own thread.

DFI just came out with a new NF4 motherboard the "DFI NF4-D".. Its just like the NF4 Ultra-D but doesnt have SataII or SLI enabled in the chipset..Now since DFI uses the same pcb and chipset as their SLI motherboards this board CAN be modded to enable SLI and SataII !! ..

All you need to do is bridge the contacts like explained in ExRoadie's guide but connect two more and you have yourself a SLI-D..

Here is a pic of which ones need to be bridged..

This is a very easy mod and the price for this mobo is currently $117 @ mwave.. So all you need is a bridge and you have yourself a SLI-D motherboard..

interesting.. can DFI future bioses detect this mod? they are working hard to discourage 'enabling' stuff for free lol.

i currently have an sli-D and i payed around $180 for it.. this is very tempting as im goign to RMA my board tomorrow.

Nope.. all the NF4 DFI boards use the SAME bios.. all the bios does is check what is enabled on the chipset and goes with that.. Trust me the bios will not detect it and they are not discouraging it..

question: between the PCIe 3&4 there is a chip missing compared to the sli-d .. perhaps its the second RJ45 controller?.

Hmmm, I knew that with a Ultra modded to SLI it wasn't possible to use SLI mode with recent nVidia drivers and therefore the modification was useless, is it true?

No, it's not true. Once you mod it to SLI, there is no physical difference between the Ultra-D's and the SLI's. The driver won't know the difference.

Thats true.. cuz all the drivers do is check to see whats enabled on the chipset and then goes with that.. There is NO WAY drivers can detect this..

Thumbs up I was ready to rush out and get this until

Same that the ultra-d was a whopping 11$ higher @ newegg.
    Newegg DFI-Ultra-D for 128$

Still for the fun of it, good idea and nice find.
May come in handy for those that can only find nf4-d

ok, lookign at the sli-d board i have here it does look the same..

on this chip the bridge has a transitor or resistance.. what difference does that make compared to just bridging it our selfves w/no transistors..

also on the bottom part left to the red circle, those two connection are also bridged with transistor/resistance.

i too pics but dam they come out too blury..
