CPU-Z 1.26, means correct show has not left Dual Core, but may distinguish from CPUID

CPU-Z 1.27.1, still did not have means correct show to leave Dual Core.

this is the dual core right? Man I hear the EE dual core is supposed to have HT and dual core. That is like 4 logical CPU's in one chip :banana4: :banana4: :banana4:

No Hyperthreading with Intel dual core processors.

I know, but the EE are supposed to have HT enabled in Dual Cores. Only the EE's. I swear I read this at either anand or arstechnica.

Incorrect. The dual core EE will have hyperthreading.

Intel plans to deliver two separate dual-core products and dual-core-enabled chipsets for its Pentium® processor-class families in the second quarter, including the Pentium® processor Extreme Edition. The Intel® Pentium® Processor Extreme Edition will include Hyper-Threading Technology, providing the ability to process four software “threads” simultaneously.

CPUID just shows a P4 with HT. Where does it say thats a dual core chip?

Also, does the SIS649 even support dual core?

    Maybe I'm missing something?

Yeah you're right, I'm not seeing anything that indicates it's a dual core. CPU-Z indicates it's a Pentium 531, which is identical to the 3 GHz Pentium 530, but with EM64T (64-bit extensions). The 531, along with the other 5x1 chips, are being released in Q2.

those mips if at only 3 ghz are very impressive, comparable to a dual CPU at the same speed or close.

dual cores should offer little to no advantage for games, dual cores should be like dual CPU's... so until things are specifically coded for dual cores, theres not gonna be much of a advantage for them in benchmarks, other then say PCmark... or other dual CPU benchmarks that might take advantage of dual cores.

how will a game coded for dual core compare to a game on AMD? Will intel get the edge in games or will AMD still be on top?

*I am only talking about a game that is dual core coded vs a single core AMD.

if a game is coded for Dual cores, then theres still no advantage for intel in games... AMD has thier own dual core 64's that they are sampling right now, and unlike intel, they can be used on any A64 board, where the new dual core P4 needs chipsets that no one currently has, like the 945/955 boards...

or this SIS board that was used for this set of benchmarks.

but a dual core P4 on a game coded to actually use both cores, should do just as good as a single core in a game.
but a Dual Core AMD, would again have the advantage, just like always... making it the same as always... Intel for office use, multitasking and video stuff and similar things, AMD for gamers and some other things.

If there's games coded for multiple threads i'm sure AMD will release a dual core FX in a timely fashion. The Opterons were designed with a direct bridge between the cores for cache and memory sharing so a dual core die is a very small step for them vs. Intel's Xeon line.

i read at The Inquirer that "Yonah" will be a hyperthreading chip on its 2 lovely mobile cores, maybe thats what you're thinking about?

Can anyone verify if it's a dual core? It still says Prescott on the screenshots...

Intel provides a small application that detects dual core CPUs and HT capabilities.
    http://www.intel.com/cd/ids/develope...turl=40524.htm

If you have the opportunity, could you run it and post the result ? It would be very interesting.

Yes, however the screenshots are pretty clear that its a single core prescott with HT, not a Smithfield (which doesn't have HT BTW).

You don't have any actual screenshots showing something dual core related?
