Do you play games or just bench?

For 2x256mb (benching) go for 4800 LA.
For 2x512mb (gaming) go for 4400 LE.

Yes but it's only rated to run at PC4800 in 2T.

Why is LE to be preffered in 1GB kits?

LA is technically speaking better ram..
In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

LA is only rated to run 2T at the high speeds in 2x512MB. In 2x256MB it can run 1T, but the performance loss you get running 2T with LA and 2x512MB, you are better off with LE running 1T at high speeds.

And no Gaz, G.Skill is pretty much the best TCCD around.

    Ok GSkill...

I don't quite understand the reason behind rating the same memory at 2 different "T"

What is 1T and 2T exactly?

1T and 2T refer the command rate, or CPC (command per clock). Running the ram at 2T compared to 1T will decrease your memory bandwidth because of how the memory controller processes information with the different command rates. This is a very simple explanation, but it is generally a universally accepted thing that 2T decreases memory bandwidth, thus decreasing performance. 1T however stresses the memory controller more, thus reducing your memory overclock. However, the difference in bandwidth between higher clocks at 2T and lower clocks at 1T usually always shows that 1T, even at lower clocks is a better option for max performance. Someone I'm sure will pipe in with a more detailed explanation.

    mhm, no

Both series, LA & LE are rated 2T. Personally, i would go with LA, since the new LA package is rated 2.5-4-4-8 @ PC4800 (instead of CAS 3, as stated at g.skill's website). You might score better with these.. 437/440 Samsung TCCD chips.

Think what you want, but go read OPB's threads on LE and LA, and you'll see he says the exact same thing. Scroll up to the top where he agreed with my simple recommendation....

LE is rated 1T at PC4400, LA is rated 2T at PC4800. OPB will confirm this, regardless of what G.Skill's website says or doesn't say.

oo, it's getting interesting.. Hmm, i'm rather sure LE is rated 2T @ PC4400.. Going to check this once more, again..

LA 1g was tested under DDR600 2t at that time but LE was tested under DDR550 1t
That's all I have to say.

As stated above, the LE kit will be your best bet in 2x512, LA in 2x256.

LA is rated 300Mhz, 2T, not the LE.

Still seems idioitic to rate the same branded memory (LA) at different command rates, depending on the amount of memory. Makes no sense to me

Now I'm stuck with the LA's, just hope they do DDR600 1T otherwise it will be quite fun for oc-wear.de...

so are they basically the same thing? b/c some le has been making 300 1t does that mean theres a possibility of 300 1t on the la's (but not guaranteed). My head is basically spinning now.

It is possible to get 300 1T on LAs, but in 1T, LEs have a better change of getting higher speeds.

Simply put, LEs are better for 2x512MB, LAs are better for 2x256MB.

You mean factory tested, or user tested?
