Age of Empires II HD Edition on Three Monitors!

Age of Empires II HD Edition - Nvidia Surround - GTX 670 3-Way SLI:

Here's one of my all-time favorite games! Long before my past WoW addiction, there was my Age Of Empires II: The Conquerors addiction. I spent many hours playing this game on the glorious MSN Gaming Zone. At the time, I was also running an AOEII clan that specialized in Deathmatch on Green Arabia-type maps. I even made a few custom maps that my clan enjoyed playing on. Ahhh, those were the days!

Anyway, enjoy this gameplay, it's not really the most exciting, but, you get the general idea of how it plays across three monitors. What types of advantages do you see playing RTS (real-time strategy) games on a triple-monitor setup such as this?

I thought you didn't like RTS games.
Wouldn't portrait mode suit better this kind of game? Just asking.

AOE II is/was awesome, I remember being quite impatient to get it, after all it looked like a cool upgrade to the already sublime AOE I. Haven't gotten the HD version yet, but I am sure Steam summer sales will sort that out ^^. Thanks for sharing btw!

Advantages of RTS on triple monitors varies, Blizzard has disabled this for SC2 as it may give an unfair advantage. Non-online driven RTS-games would probably benefit the same way though

I think Supreme Commander 1 had the ability to put the entire world map on a second monitor. Games like that it would be really useful because the maps were so large and a minimap wouldn't be the best option.

You are right, SupCom had that option. It was one of the first multi-monitor games.

Where did you get the idea that I didn't like RTS games? As far as portrait mode goes, it depends on your style of play: do you more often scroll up and down or left and right?

That is so sweet! I can't wait to get my eyefinity setup now!
AOEII was the game that got me hooked on RTS back in the day. And thanks to the HD edition I'm in love all over again!
Oh, and it's currently 50% off in the steam sale if anyone's interested.

AoEII HD is pretty much it for now. I did check out AOEO (coming soon...) and DOTA2/HoN for a bit. Just didn't impress me enough to stick with them.

I heard AoeIIhd was a let down, a lot of features removed, and the graphics were still very low end vs what you can download for free. Hopefully they'll get it right the next time, I was really looking forward to it!

The most recent patches, 2.5 and 2.6 cause the game to frequently crash. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! But, now, the game is broken, SO FIX IT!!
