Will it be wise to replace my 1090T running @4Ghz, with an FX 8350?

I think yes, now is good time for upgrade. FX will be more power hungry with high voltage (1.488-1.55V), but with some 1.45V you can get balanced system.

Gratz on the new chip Flank3r...

You asked me about batch code in the other thread, I'll answer here so I don't keep loading up his thread.
    Here's mine:

    What's yours?

Ambient temps here were ~25c last night, but my W/C should be alot stronger than an all-in-one. Looks like your chip might be a little better than mine.
I started right off trying to find max stable though (as usual )...

If I get a chance I'll do some max CB 11.5 runs this week end!

    Looks good!

Can you do a single thread test with CB at those speeds?

If 200€ means nothing to you maybe. If 200€ is important to you, certainly not.

Maybe if he can sell his 1100T for a good price ,they are difficult to find these days. If not then I think his 4Ghz X6 is good to go for another year and a half.

i intend upgrading my HTPC with the 1090T and am dreaming of a stable 5Ghz oc from the FX 8350 with my WC.ing setup for 24/7 use.

I'd like to see a frequency vs power graph for these CPUs on air. Buying one for everyday use is kinda pointless if I have to spend Ģ100 on watercooling just to make it as fast in games as Thuban!

It means a lot Bro. But am trying to picture a world without AMD, am not saying they are bankrupt
We donīt have to sell our kidneys or hit a bank to buy an Intel CPU,
I know they have the fastest CPUs but itīs all about having someone to keep them under check

It's faster than Thuban in games, stock vs stock by around 20%. You can OC Thuban to ~4Ghz on good air cooling but since Thuban runs games at its half core Turbo of 3.7Ghz(most games are just not supporting more than 2 threads and Thuban runs at 3.7Ghz with 3 active threads) your OCing effect will not be that effective, maybe you will gain ~20% in games(NB OCing effect included on top of effective 10% cpu clock effect). This way you can match the stock 8350 according to CPU chart Hardware.fr got. But then you can OC Vishera from its 4/4.1Ghz stock clock to around ~4.7-4.8Ghz on air and jump ahead of OCed Thuban very easily...

    edit:
I still think 4Ghz Thuban is plenty of CPU power, even in games(save Skyrim or SC2) for another year+,maybe even more.

That's good, I'm debating at the moment because I have a 770t motherboard which can't take an AM3+ CPU. I have a 955BE atm at 3.7GHz, mostly because I have a budget heatsink and also because it's a bad clocker (VID of 1.4V O_O) so it needs 1.41V for that, and 1.475V for 3.9GHz (which is just on the limit of my heatsink). I do have a lot of threaded applications though, and I like AMD. Wait for steamroller probably.

Yeah I think you are set with your 955BE,too much $ needed for upgrade now.

    @Flank3r & Daveburt...

Looks like you have a nice sample Flank3r!

I'm curious to know the stock VID for your chips??

My sample seems to be one of the highest (of the few that I've seen so far) at 1.375v.

BIOS@stock/default settings... Then "Save Report .TXT" button located in the lower left of the CPUZ About tab.

    # of P-States 7
    P-State FID 0x1A - VID 0x0A - IDD 13 (21.00x - 1.425 V)
    P-State FID 0x19 - VID 0x0B - IDD 13 (20.50x - 1.412 V)
    P-State FID 0x18 - VID 0x0E - IDD 12 (20.00x - 1.375 V)
    P-State FID 0x12 - VID 0x16 - IDD 10 (17.00x - 1.275 V)
    P-State FID 0xC - VID 0x1F - IDD 8 (14.00x - 1.162 V)
    P-State FID 0x5 - VID 0x29 - IDD 5 (10.50x - 1.037 V)
    P-State FID 0x10C - VID 0x33 - IDD 4 (7.00x - 0.912 V)

The P-State FID 0x18 equals the stock (20x200) 4.0GHz VID...

Mines only a little better PolRoger...

Core temp shows a stock VID of 1.3625 on mine.
Now that I've gotten stable clocks ~4.85, I'm going to start pushing benches a little.

There's a new bios for the C5F (1703), I'm going to flash it tonight and now that I have a baseline.
