X = Y - (Y x Z), given: X = 28,300 and Z = 0.15, what is Y
X = Y - (Y x Z), given: X = 28,300 and Z = 0.15, what is Y
For me it's 33294,11 unless this is some kind of a joke. I'm no great mathematician either.

Thanks. Can you provide the solution of how you got to the answer?
X = Y- 0.15Y
X = 0.85Y
Y = X/0.85
Or.....
Y = Hondacitys post. Dare you to write that
This is y'know..... day 1 of algebra stuffYou just starting out?

duh, Y = the 25th letter of the alphabet.
I'm bad at math, so the equation 2n+2n is 4n to me.

Better get a good handle on that algebra. Its nothing compared to multi-variable calculus (calc 3).
Although, I maybe cannot really justify that statement. After you get a handle on calc `1 & 2, calc 3 "seemed" to actually get easier. Hell i had a harder time with Trig then I did with calc. It took alot of work, for me at least, to remember all those damn trig identities.
Boy that info was old. As am I. Currently my kids have taken over my desktops. They are both sporting matching GTX1080's. Last Christmas I got everyone Oculuses and thus GTX1080's. My eldest is some sort of CSGO champion gold label something or other. Me I work and shoot real guns. Build Comps as needed.
Calculus 3 is just calculus 1 with multivariables., is not that hard unless your are focusing on some of the proofs.
I have no idea, I did trade and business maths. The dumb maths.

At first I couldn't figure it out, and it bugged me so I got out a piece of paper and some math information began to switch back on in my brain
So:
X = Y - (Y x Z)
Fill in knowns - 28300 = Y - (Y * 0.15)
Simplify1 - 28300 = Y - (0.15Y)
Rewrite as addition - 28300 = 1Y + -0.15Y
Simplify2 - 28300 = 0.85Y
Divide - 28300/0.85 = 33294.12
Y = 33294.12
Answer checking:
28300 = 33294.12 - (33294.12 * 0.15)
28300 = 33294.12 - (4994.12)
28300 = 28300
TI-83 confirms answer correct(I actually copied this wrong the first time with X = 23800 which actually results in much nicer round numbers)

I solved it in a ridiculous silly way, but got the same answer for y. Apparently solving simple equations for me is like creating a storm in a glass of water.
y = x/(1-z)
