I agree 2 exact batches CAN have dif clocks but if you research the 3103B3XX batch on XS they have all been 56X, 57X, 58X 59X on the ones I saw. I think newhits for sale thread even shows that they are great clockers. I agree with you and have no proof that MIVE is doing weird things but its weird alot of people that had CPU's die where on MIVE. Additionally, mine died with only 1.56vcore and newhit can give his 1.68v-172v no issues. I guess its chip dependant as you stated, regardless of how close or exact the batchs are.

I can't stand this new chip anymore, I am going to Microcenter tonight to grab another one. wish my luck

A lot of ppl can lose a lot of money "binning" chips, especially where I live in the UK. If you think it's a crazy price then don't bid for it, that's your choice. But a 57x chip is still quite rare, even if you're waiting for SB-E to come along.

    That's correct!

Didn't get a chance to pick up a new chip last night. Wife and baby where leaving for the shore house so I had some things to do. I did get my G.Skill 8GB kit of memory in and new Hyper 212+ for my secondary rig though. Hope to get down to Microcenter today.

Good luck deachus, pls. post your finding here
Imo, multi testing for >56X and >1.54Vcore will be fine just don't run stress bench with 4C/8T HT on especially on air or regular H20

I'm off to redo my last LinX runs using 4C/8T with the new Linpack. I'm thinking it should be interesting (OK, slightly interesting ) to see the difference between my last posted run in Zalbards thread and the latest on what seems a good 56x chip.

You didn't focus on the word "bid" which is not the same as "pay". (OK, I know, it's still "a crazy price" )

If chip can do 58xx mhz clocks it should be able to post at 58x, have you tried to set Turbo Ratio in bios By number of cores (non adjustable in OS) ? Helped my chip to boot at 58x (before max was 56x on default settings for turbo ratio)

yeah Dumo told me to do that but i got the blinking cursor...maybe its a x56 chip only but im more than fine with it

    thanks !

the nearest MC is two train stops away from me... i can't look and pick batches by hand in the store, so i have to resort to blind luck.

Where do you guys recommend buying a chip online? So far i've bought 2 from egg, and 6 from MC online... both from egg were costa rica chips (one had a terrible 52 wall... the other was low voltage, sort of.. super pi'able 32m @ 1.47v @ 5.1ghz.)
Looking for low voltage chips for 24/7 though.

The chips i got from MC were ok, but not low voltage... low volt chips seem to be absolutely random with no pattern in batch numbers

I had a cpu which doesn't want to do beyond 5.2 ghz @ any volts and 5ghz is a little way too high volts. but it can do 5.78ghz on ln2 @ 1.6v

so it couldn't clock past 5.2 unless it was under ln2? hmm...weird, but where do you recommend buying one nowdays? i'm thinking buy it from where ever gets the most traffic as they have to replenish their stock more often and thus get newer chips?

    amiright? lol

So as i understand it... under subzero some chips can be stable @ 5ghz with less volts as opposed to when using air/water?
I have a chiller that can get to -20C...could i run it daily at around -15C? without making it fubar within a few weeks?

the chiller is fine for 24/7, it's a laboratory chiller so it's able to run daily, but i'm asking will the chip itself be ok running -15C daily?

    thanks

The low temps wont hurt the chip 24/7. Condensation will be your only concern. Insulate the board properly and keep a close eye out for any moisture.
