    Windshield Washer Fluid.

Is it ok to use this in a regular watercooling setup? I ran out of Hydrx so I decided to use this, my only concern is that it could gum up my MCP600 pump.

Does it transfer heat as well as water?

    heat transfer is good

won't gun has very low viscosity much lower than water even.

    i suggest a 75/25 water/wwf mix

I didn't have any distilled water so I use a 100% WWF mix and works great.

at some point I will put in the water and let you know if temps improve.

I didn't have any distilled water either so I'm using 100% WWF too

I found this stuff in my garage, It's rated to -40C and its blue
but its of no use because the water temp is probably around 35C (due to a TEC unit)

I had 100% WWF and just added about a 50/50 mix and temps dropped slightly 0-3c

(diode) ranges from 0 to -3c and (socket) is -1c from where the 100% WWF was sitting all idle temps.

(diode) -0c and (socket) -1c change in loaded PEAK temps using MBM,, (case) temps no change -0c

Diode seems to jump around and socket temp stayed steady

no clue how accurate this is so take what you want from it

    Is WWF an anticorrosive too?

after several days the 50/50 WWF/water mix hasn't dropped temps more than 1c at best.

since -20f WWF is already 62% water and 38% meth cutting it much more didn't do much.

room temp change could have changed my intial tests. We have had alot of rain and now the sun is out and its over 90 degrees my temps have been 0-1c different than before mixing my WWF.

    use your best judgement.

no clue on the anticorrosive part

I said it was not an anti-corrsive, as in something that inhibits corrosion. If you have a metal that reacts with another in an electolytic solution (such as aluminum with copper), you will get corrosion. Water easily turns into an electrolyte.

Additives such as antifreeze help counter this, so that you can have different metals in your loop and your metals dont corrode.

Just make sure your WWF is made of alcohol and not Glycol.

And WWF alcohol is not anti-corrosive, but dont corrose much. I whould say about 2+years before your waterblock start to damage(and I doubt that someone will keep a waterblock 2years)

WWF has menthanol in it. I actually use it for water injection in my truck to increase the octane. Never thought about using it in my WC setup. The strongest stuff is the de-icing forumla. Its about 50/50 methanol.

Well, this morning I found white stuff growing on the inside of the lines, it looked like algae, or maybe it was just staining from the windshield washer fluid. Whatever it was there were little bits going around the system, so I emptied it, flushed it out with water, and then refilled it with water and zerex super coolant. I think that I have a problem with bacteria because the water was getting to 40C due to a TEC, but I thought that windshield washer fluid was poisonous?
