Kingston HyperX T1 Black: New 1600MHz 8GB kit on the block

I was watching a video on youtube and accidentally stumpled across a new video from Kingston, showcasing their new 8GB T1 Black kit. Specs aren't that great (1600MHz 9-9-9-27 @ 1.65V) but what about the sexy black heatspreaders? And on top of that, Kingston pairs them with a Gigabyte G1-Killer assasin and tests 6x4GB configuration.

Anybody happens to know when will they officially launch?

Radiators, those unnecessarily huge heatspreaders. They are pretty useless, especially on this rams specification, and do nothing but hinder CPU cooler installation.

I've never used Kingston, and doubt I ever will.

Kingston has been releasing several 2x4GB kits lately, some with low profile cooler too, but ALL of them are rated at 1.65v. These guys haven't heard the news about 1.5v requirements for SB yet?

G.Skill has way better stuff thats already available and cheap. This same exact speed and specs costs less than $100, and had a rebate just a week or two ago that brought it down to $75 for 8GB. And the high quality 7-8-7 stuff only costs $150. Less voltage on the GSkill kits too.


And Sandy Bridge doesn't REQUIRE 1.5v that is just default, it works fine up to 1.6v and some people have been running perfect at 1.65v too

I agree, G.Skill has some really good and cheap 4GB-sticks already. But most importantly, they are rated at the same speed with 1.5v.

Intel recommends 1.5v for 24/7, and max 1.575v for SB!. You may run 1.8v too, if you dare, but nobody knows the long term effect of 1.6v+ on the IMC yet. It's a good idea to keep it under 1.55v for 24/7 until we know more how resilient the IMC is.

Some companies re-branding the old 1.65v sh't for SB, but true SB-kits should be rated at 1.5v, in my opinion .

Erm, nope, they aren't useless. No need to make them vastly oversized, though.

Actually you would have better temperatures by removing the heatspreaders and placing a good 120mm on top of the RAMs. They pretty much are useless... Yes they were needed back in BH5 and D9GMH/GKX days, when you would pump 3.5V+ or 2.5V+ to the RAMs.

These coolers look good, and it won't hurt to have some bling bling, or exta cooling on hand, but (it's a big butt ), the top air-coolers are huge in the days.
No way I could squeeze these RAM with my Silver Arrow. Several other coolers that comes after, would have problems too.
