    * "Tile-based deferred shading acceleration" via DirectCompute.[4] This is being ported to the PlayStation 3's SPUs.
    Sounds cool!
And "Back to Karkand" map... Damn... Was my fav map in BF2... Must resist wasting extra money on this!

however, i think crysis and mirror's edge already used radiosity (prerendered, not real-time though in mirror's edge's case, dunno about crysis), so it's not THAT new.

it's funny though - do you guys remember the nvidia techdemo mad mod mike for the gf 7000 series? they showcased radiosity in that already. and that's like half a decade ago

400+ hours and still having fun!

i've spent around 700 hours in bf2. so yeah, i do like bf games
Daaamn that is a lot of hours!

But BF3 will be the game that makes me upgrade, bugs or not, BF is FUN!

Call it what you want but BF2 is MORE run and gun that BF:BC2. I've got around 500 hours on BF2 and close to 200 on BF:BC2 (only because the BF2 servers are empty and COD sucks).

Go to play.com -> 37.90€ for the limited edition, the only drawback is, it takes a few days longer then an amazon till its here.

When I think of run and gun, I think arcadey, they go hand in hand. BC2 and the COD franchise scream run and gun. I own both, similar play hours, and you just can't run and gun in BF2 unless you're on an infantry only urban map in an alley with a shotgun. Personally, any game that uses a regenerative health system is more arcadey than one that uses healthpacks. Still light years from reality, but really, how am I supposed to believe a soldier can slowly shrug off being hit by 20 rounds of fire? BF2 had it's imbalances, but the pace and design is just better than any other online FPS I've played.

wait for EADM keys online! Dead Space 2 is now only 25USD.

Singapore here, we're getting it for 33EUR preorder

and BFBC2 is nice, but there's still performance issues after a few games, K/D ratio drops dramatically for me.

play.com and amazon.co.uk are nice places to get games, yeah, but i don't have a credit card and i don't plan to get one. so these places are no option for me.

Health packs aren't any less arcadey when you've just been riddled with bullets and are running around just fine 30 seconds later. Trying to cast that as much more realistic than regeneration is a futile exercise (each soldier could have his own health packs).

I hope they build on both BF2 and BC2 in their designs for BF3. BF2 isn't some gold standard compared to BC2 like some of you would have us think. They both have their strengths.

At least regarding single player, health packs are a much more challenging implementation than Wolverine heal. Both are unrealistic nonetheless.

MoH:AA back in 2002, i remember having to carefully go my way with <20% of HP until i found a heaven-sent health pack which would then let me be careless again

Any regen health game kills that challenge by simply staying out of bullets' reach long enough to be good as new.

Err.. there IS hardcore mode in BC2, you know.

    No regen, no minimap etc.
Healthpacks are a thing of the past more because it encourages camping/survival to avoid frustration rather than task-based objective gameplay.

After owning people in Unreal Tournament just because I knew where the medkits were (and the fastest way to get to them) I think it's very obvious why developers dislike the implementation since.

I feel like hardcore mode makes things even more run and gun. Instead of relying on a medic for support, you're essentially on your own. I don't see your argument against healthpacks, since my friends and I in BF2 were the ones taking capture points, I was the medic. The only times we'd camp was to defend the last point, or when the commander ordered our squad to.

Exactly, it reduces challenge. It reduces the amount you have to rely on a squad for support, since you really don't get any.

They are less arcadey in the sense that you need a medic to give the health pack. You have to rely on a teammate for help, instead of being able to regenerate the health after taking a rocket to the chest, you can't be a one man army. I really hope they don't listen to you. BC2 made too many mistakes, and seemed too much like a console port/COD run and gun clone.

It's not so much about realistic and arcadey as how the game flow is designed. There's nothing wrong with healthpacks so long as they are implemented in such a way that allows for a fun game.

That seems to be the primary reason for the BC2 hate - the fact that it isn't PC exclusive. Ignore that and take the game on its own merits and you might come to a different conclusion. Also, BC2 is not run and gun friendly at all. Do that and you will die (a lot) and be useless to your team. Of course if you "run and gun" as a squad you will do well.

+1, golden gun 1 hit 1 kill imo is the best way to play

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

BF3 is also released on consoles. Don't kid yourself, there won't be anything cutting edge about the engine.

If they make it possible to use anti aliasing on all textures I'm more than happy. As you know in BC2 AA doesn't work on most textures in game, unless you use transparancy aliasing of the Nvidia 4xx cards at a huge performance hit.

well, but medkits/vials and powerups require some sort of skill and provides a few tactical opportunities.
as much as i like e.g. bc2, but someone with average aim and half-decent understanding of the gameplay is able to do fairly well.

something like that would never work in a game like UT

I'll wait until I know for sure this is a real BF3 game. There is very little information about it right now and so far only provided some information that prone, 64 player and jets are in the game. Mounting the light machine guns and sniper rifles was asked for back during BF2. So the question remains, what about:
    -commander
    -squad leaders
    -supply drops
-ROF on at least some of the weapons
    -no health regenerating
-must switch to knife (no instant animated, one button knifing)
    -VOIP
    -LAN Play
    -In game Recorder
-3rd Person spectate (to catch cheaters)
-can we have more then 64 players

    -etc
