I've been hungry for GPUGrid pie so if I'm not getting it at least I can bake it for you guys
After I finish mopping up over at Einstein I'll see if they got the new GPUGrid app out,
I think they were talking end of January, and once it all shakes out ...
nom, nom, nom ... I'll be back

<edit>I was just reading on the GPUGrid forum that they are looking to make a fair amount of change but maybe not until mid February ... improvements in the app GPU utilization means we're going to have to find new OC limits
    </edit>

Just curious, but are you SURE i'm not on that list? I have 3 cards that are dedicated crunchers. Combined, they always output over 130k/day, usually over 140k/day.

According to boincstats I made 144k yesterday...

I got the numbers from Free-DC
    http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?p...j=ps3&team=305

but even looking at BOINCStats yesterday was not so good for you ... 94,483. Today is much better at 144K.

I think we may be having a difference on the definition of today and yesterday. When I say "today" I mean the stats as of the last update for, well today. I can see where people might think that is really the stats from yesterday. Neither site uses UTC to define days which confuses the crap out of the question.

    Happy Crunching,
    Steve

    Cheers for posting these Snow

    Sundays pie

    Back up there today josh

It is a bit confusing when to call it a day. On the free-dc milestones, I post them around 6am GMT. Tomorrow morning I will pull "Yesterdays" stones and call them Sundays - thinking about it the server changes today's points to yesterdays around 7-8 GMT so in actuality I think they'll be Saturdays stones

So long as they're posted who cares! ;P

Aah. You are correct. For some reason I had a low output yesterday. All of the cards appear to have crunched for the full day, and no errors or anything. I'm guessing that I turned in some projects right after midnight(whatever that means for this project) so the points rolled over to the next day.

No sweat. I am in the "unfortunate" situation where I'll have to buy 2 new GTX 580s because I want tri-screen on my desktop and I want both cards to be identical(currently have a GTX 480). Such a disappointment that I'll have to increase my PPD even more....

Weird. I'm getting alternating days of high points. I get my typical 140k+ day followed by a 90k day. Everything appears to be in good working order too! Guess I'll have to see if everything smooths out.

I've replaced today a GT 460 and a GTS 250 with two GTX580 (Asus and Gainward). There should be an impact on the numbers in a few days.

The GT 460 is a real disaster for crunching on GPUGrid.

I think that has to do with the fact that these units aren't optimized to take advantage of the new features provided by the fermi arch. The only reason the higher end cards are better is their brute force... once they optimize, they should get quite a boost. (I believe.)

But when they'll get to that, no one knows.

Happens to me as well most days. I assume it is the time differences when they are validated and the stat sites update. It all seems to work out ok by the week.

While I have been a bit disappointed in the numbers my 460 produces, only a few k more than my 260s, it does it with less elec and runs very cool. If the GPUGrid app is ever optimized for fermi I think it will be a lot better. For a $150-200 card I like it. I do not know how it does on other projects. May try it on E@H a few days and see.

Yeah. Something is going on with the winxp x64 crunchers. The GPU no longer sits at 99% GPU usage. Now it sits at 60-70%.

Yeah... I keep sitting on my hands waiting for them to optimize it. Until then I picked up another 260 cuz I got a steal on it.

Once performance matches price I'll jump on a new card and move these to another rig, but till then I can't justify fermi.

I am starting to be annoyed by how GPUGRID simply dumps on an older generation of cards and move on with the new.
Tasks are starting to get longer and longer for the older generation cards. My GTX 260 sometimes take up to 9 hours for one single task, and it does not run stable all the time.

I also heard that GT240 is not doing so well anymore.

Forthcoming improvements, in case you missed it....

The changes will be mostly on usability for GPUGRID users. Planned changes (we cannot guarantee to have them all, but we will try):

    1) Project preference for running the app at higher priority than normal (higher speed)

    2) Project preference for using 1 core to control the GPU (equivalent to current SWAN_SYNC=0)

    3) Having two applications, acemd_long and acemd. acemd_long will have longer workunits, you can opt out of it in project preferences. Longer WUs will give relatively more credits per hour.

    4) All new WU will be shipped with the same options of the current DHFR1000, so they will be generally faster.

    5) Higher GPU usage in general (closer to 99%)

    Planned release in mid February.

Yeah same here. But E@H raised memory requirements on GPUs to 300 meg so now I have a 8800GT sitting in the closet. So GPUGrid is not only one. F@H still has work units for about everything. F@H is just a project that takes too much baby sitting for me.

I put my 8800GT 512 on E@H when GPUGrid no longer ran on it. They keep it up and I will be cpu only. I do not have the resources for the $300-$500 cards.

    Wow, thanks for the news..
I'll see if they got the 65nm-GTX260 issue fixed by then.
See you guys in Feb. Until then, I will be crunching intermittently.
