GTX 570 Golden Sample GLH : good deal ?

hi,

i'm considering upgrading my 4870x2 to something better...and my eyes are lining towards this card...seems to be a prety good deal a 389€

the alternative is a GTX 580 stock cooler @ 479€

any advice on that ?

Its not a reference design - I wouldnt touch it with a bargepole. Better off sticking with an EVGA or Zotac with a decent warranty and overclocking it yourself. I'm definitely not a fan of these Palit custom PCBs anyway. Says it all in that review where they opted to make a custom pcb overclocked card and cheaped out on the voltage controller and fan controller.

If you specifically want a custom pcb 570 I'd wait for the Gigabyte SOC or MSI Lightning versions to come out. They don't skimp on components.

Dunno, still reeks of making a cheaper pcb with cheaper components and releasing it clocked to the max to get a higher price for it. I'd rather go with a high quality custom (MSI/Gigabyte) or plain reference design with extra warranty. Personal choice of course, just my reasoning behind my opinion .

you have a very good point indeed pilsy, for some unknown reason it didn't come to my mind that behind that good price was lack of quality, usualy as custom designs and factory OC implied more tests, quality, etc...or at least i thought so

Don't think I've ever had an issue with Palit / Gainward. I know they had a bad batch with the GTX460/5 where they missed a heatsink but always found them to be good enough. Warranty isn't as impressive perhaps but good for the money.

Well i don't know the difference between the quality of componentes used by Gainward or referecen PCB, but i reference pcb use 4 phases for GPU power and Gainward uses 6 phases and 6+8pini power conectors.

A good ideea would be also Gainward GTX 570 Phantom listed in my contry at almost same price.
At least it looks better.

yes i saw the phantom version too...seems very quiet, i've found a review, but it seems it lacks a vmod :p

it seems msi is rolling out is own model "Twin Frozer" for 344€, there is also a 580 for 485€

ok well finaly i went for a "Gainward GTX 580 GooD" for 469€ on a 24hours deal i found. Twin Frozer was on pre order around 500€ in other etailers
