Country? Norway of course, almost the most expensive country to live in inn the world.
Yeah, but most importantly, free education. You can study in best universities without paying a Cent.

In Scandinavian you pay a mandatory insurance (in form of high taxes) for free health care, free education, and "free" unemployment benefits.

So, yeah, higher statewide property values kinda make up for the lower rate, if you ask me...
I grew up in Silicon Valley (San Jose/Santa Clara area). A couple of my cousins live in Saratoga. They're not filthy rich. But they work for Hewlett Packard and can easily afford to pay the taxes.

Property taxes are based on the assessed value of your home and land. That value is usually just an educated guess by the city or county. Your home is oftemtimes worth more than the assessed value.

California counties get around Prop. 13 by imposing a special tax known as Mello-Roos which is used to pay for a variety of things including road improvements and schools.

Back on topic, I got my 1155 system up and running over the weekend. ASUS has a cool UEFI that replaces the old BIOS. There's a video on YouTube showing how the ASUS UEFI works.

All you have to do is dial in the multiplier you want, and the board will automatically adjust the voltages for maximum stability. Or course, you can do everything manually. But I've gotten lazy.

If you watch the YouTube video in the link above, the ASUS tech got a 2600K up to 5GHz by just using the auto-tune feature while in the operating system. The app will automatically raise the clock speed 100MHz at a time and also perform a stability test at each speed. You can see that in the video too.

I have my chip running at 4.6Hz. I stopped there because the board adjusted the voltage to 1.33v which is far as I want to go for crunching. I'm pretty sure it will do 5GHz with no problem. But the voltage and temp would be too high for 24/7 usage.

The ASUS EFI BIOS is pretty cool. You can change the boot order by just dragging an icon. The BIOS has an EZ Mode, as well as an Advanced Mode with all the settings you're accustomed to seeing. The EFI also allows you to either make all overclocking adjustments in the BIOS or in the operating system. It takes some getting used to. But I've impressed with how well everything works.

Update on what my SB 2600K is doing at stock everything:

I switch the projects around sometimes to see what it does on for each.

That is around 2k more than my i7-860 does @ 3.5GHz. I thought it would be more. But I need 170 watt for that.

I auto-tuned mine last night. It only got 4.533. The v-core is only 1.272. The auto-tune quit after 2 crashes. I didn't have any luck getting stable @4.6 with 1.350 manually either. I'll probably try 1.4 later.

    Could be your chip.
Seems to be a lot of variation in them.
Saw a guy the other day at 5GHz at 1.3vcore..
    I can't do that..
4.533Ghz at 1.272vcore is nice pal.
Be happy there as it's telling you thats the "sweet spot" for that particular cpu.

I know. My other chip is worse. It takes 1.320 for 4.5. I'm just envious of all these huge numbers with with relatively low volts I'm seeing. I keep hoping I'll find a setting that allows me to go further without tons of v-core.

Is there anything to the 1.35 limit that seems to have become gospel for the long life of these chips? Heard any stories of these chips or other 32nm chips dying? I went conservative with my 980x, 1.320 4.15Ghz just because I don't want to replace it. (4.2 required 1.39) With one of these, if 1.4 would yield 4.8, a 10 month life might be acceptable. New chips with more cores should be out by then.

When the first 32nm chips came out people were treating them like the 45's and we had lots of dead chips on the forum.
The issue was high vcore(1.4+ ) added in with high VTT( 1.4+ )
I remember Cyberdruid lost a $500 chip that way.
Over time we've found that 1.35vcore with 1.325VTT was safe for long term 100% load and in some cases actually lowering the VTT will improve the overclock.
I'm using 1.325vcore with all others default but with "PLL override" enabled for a solid 4634MHz.

Thanks for the quick explanation MM. Coming from you I believe it. Wasn't sure about a random OC thread from the U.K. I read.

Retro, what project are you running? Those are great numbers for stock!!!

Here is the first week of mine running a steady diet of HCC. It's bee running @4.5Ghz except the first 3 days where it wasn't even 24/7. The 18th is 1/2 day. Hopefully it will be a 40K+ day today. Maybe it's finally hitting it's stride.

I was running HFCC [just dbl checked]. I'll get a custom cooler soon so that I can over clock, but honestly, its running just fine. I'm not a pie hunter [yet!]. I'd have to double my output in order to get there.

Is yours a 2600k as well? Nice work on putting up some nice numbers for a single socket system!

Yep! Both mine are 2600Ks. Different mobos. I just switched to HFCC to see if that improves things. They are both doing as much or more than my 920 and 950. Just not a jumping up and down 10K better. Considering the clocks, I'm scratching my head.
