True, but then again, Nvidia is making this a GTX 580. And ATI is the one doing it wrong with the 6800's?
Cause Vantage is serious gaming
Sadly this is probably true. We'll probably see the GTX480 configuration become a 570, the 470 to 560, the 465 to 555, 460 to 550 etc.
Impressive 44.8 avg if true. Will we find out on Nov 9? dun dun dun
Thanks cold2010, as always ...![]()
Has any one heard of Nvidia 262.99 drivers?
An unfortunate person is one tries to fart but sh1ts instead...

they should have waited for that screenie of furmark. 15 minutes is where they should have grabbed it.
It's because they increased the TMUs from 64 to 128. They had a major flaw in the initial Fermi with only 64 tmu and the flaw is really obvious in vantage, that's why you have this big increase. In games it's not really that obvious so the increase will not be that dramatic (40% over 480).

You can't compare results between Intel Core i7 920(ES) @ 4.0Ghz and AMD Phenom II X6 1090T. Also motion blur might have been enabled.
Phenom II X6 1090T default clock
Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
G-Skill Ripjaws X 16Gb - 2133Mhz
Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme
i7 2600k @ 4.4Ghz
Sapphire 7970 OC 1.2Ghz
Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 128Gb
This is a good sign. I think you will be able to get a 580 for around 450 by the time they are in stock in a variety of places. I think they will be pretty good cards for the money, and I don't think Nvidia is releasing them as next gen. Just an improved 480. They are to the 480 what the 285 was to the 280 sorta.
Also, if the new ATI cards are way better and around 400-450, then I think Nvidia will lower the price of the 580's to maybe 350 or so. Either way, the consumer will win this Christmas. Perfect timing for me cause I wanna build my new PC around that time.
Eh I'll see what happens. If they aren't, I'm just gonna get a 950.
That was more me being bored. I really don't care what ATI/Nvidia calls their cards as long as they're good value. Only dumbasses buy something based on the number without researching it first.
I have absolutely no brand loyalty. I just get what's a good value (and powerful of course). If ATI's new cards are around $400 and beast Nvidia's offerings, obv I'm going with them this time around. So far I've gone Nvidia -> ATI -> ATI. 3rd time's a charm? Lol
Same/similar price as the GTX 480 yep seems logical but only for the current scenario. No idea what the 6970 and the 6950 will bring i really have my doubts where the GTX 580 will land.
In all aspects asap Nvidia should release GTX 580 even in small numbers they will still have good reviews and publicity that is until the 6970 and 6950 get out then GTX 580 may lose its shine.
Coming Soon
