    the CM 690 XL mod

    Hi all,
I have been lokking in this forum for a while, and I finally decided to post my worklog, hoping that u'll like it and could help me with it
so first of all welcome to my Thread

I use to have a Cm 690 for a while and I love it, but also wanted to ad a watercooling system in it but face it has not really enough space, so with a friend we decided to do smt about it. I didn't want to buy a new rig so instead I started to look for an another Cm 690 and did some scretch.

This is how my rig used to be:

The system will function for gaming and multimedia

The hardware installed will be as follow:

    CPU: I7 930
CPU-Cooler: CM Hyper z600 (but will get a WC system next month)
    Motherboard: Asus Rampage III Extreme
    Graphics: CF HD 5850 + 8800 GT
    Memory: 6GB G.Skill Ripjaws
SSD: 1 OCZ 120 go vertex
    HDD: 1x 1000GB + 1x 500 GB
    DVD: Sony
Power Supply: CM Silent Pro 1000
    Fan's: 5 custm CM 120 fans+ 2 ximaltch 140 white led

Will be used with an Apple HD display 23"

I'm nearly done but here is the summary of the whole thing. We started it last june and hopping to finish it by novembre.

    Here are the 2 cases

So first we started by disambling the 1st case

    And here the result

The tricky part was to adjust the front facade, so that what we've done with a friend

    and here is the result

    Stay posted for more pics

hi guys it's me again with some other pictures of my mod
When we finished with the watercase we had to take off the white paint that I had on the case

we used a paint remover, it saved us a lot of time

and finally ready to be cut

and that's what we end up with enough space for all the PSU wires

Next step ....Painting my favorite bit

So we followed the basics, sanding, primer, 1st and 2nd layer of paint. We went for a black mat

Then, we started painting the corners first

Here the result after the 1st layer

    and finaly the 2nd layer

with his mate the stacker we painted the same day

here are some pics I've just recieved my order

I bought the sleeving from MDPC x, they have an amazing sleeving, color and quality, and it's even better when you touch it

I spent the whole night sleeving pci, sata and power cables, I'm exhausted , I'll post some pics later

Hi guys, new pics, I've been trying to mount all the parts to check if everything work perfectly and it does apart for the CPU cables (too short) so I have to think about a solution (any idea is welcome) as well as the sata cable management.
    So here it is enjoy

Put a 480 or 360 rad in the bottom haha! I can see watercooling potential here.

Here are some other stuff I've been doing with a friend of mine modding fans. We decided to paint our fans (he's also working on a mod with Cm stacker) so this is how we did it
    We painted 2 200 mm and 5 120 mm

Very nice indeed. I like the colour scheme, it's good to see something other than blue or red.

Are you hoping to fit a 480 and a 240 TJ07 style? Also, forgive me if I've missed something but, are you going to use the hose outlets in the rear of the case to connect to the rads? Or some other means?

thank you Kryja, In fact it's my little girl (she's 3) who chose the colour, and then I ordered some MDPC purple and went see a specialist who prepared the paint
I will put a 360 rad and the pomp in the bottom part, and the way I will connect them with other parts (waterblocks and reservoir) it's a surprise be patient
