first things thanks to everyone who posted in the other thread here
(i ripped and chopped a few pics).
this is the vgpu mod for the 5900XT. enjoy!!!
Materials:
Soldering equipment
5kohms VR
wires
1. locate the gpu voltage regualtor on the back of the card
2. locate the gpu voltage measuring point
3. check the voltage in 2d and 3d. 3d should be .2v above 2d. (in most cases it should be 1.23v 2d 1.43v 3d) by putting the red lead of the dmm on this point and the black in the black hole of a female molex.
4. turn the VR to about 3.76 kohms. i used the two pins furthest from the screw.
5. this is the pin you solder to.
its a LOT easier to tin the wire first then heat it with the soldering iron on to the pin. due to a lack of soldering experience i didnt and i has to lie the wire touching and hold the solder and iron... this was hard. tin the wire.
6. you may want to set up the ground wire first. the ground point is shown above on the first pic
7. as usual, it goes
8. double check for shorts. i had one so i had to resolder onto the FB pin.
9. mount the vr for easy on-the-fly tuning
finished product should look something like:
10. triple check everything, then boot up and check the voltage in 2d and 3d.
11. tune away, but watch those temps! on a gigabyte 5900xt 1.6v should get you 510 core stable. mine never gets above 50° with present cooling.
